Ferny Hill Retreat, Emerald Victoria

We were met on arrival and given a full tour of the property. The host also gave us a brief description of notable things to see and do in the area. The property was well stocked with everything we needed - including milk, break and other breakfast things. The property was clean and well appointed, importantly there was heating and cooling throughout.

We stayed here for a full month while working in the Dandenong Ranges and it was an absolutely wonderful place to call home. The accommodation has so much personality and charm, and the garden is truly special. Every morning we woke up to birds feeding outside, and in the evenings we could hear the kookaburras. We also saw lots of little rosellas around the property, which made the whole experience feel very peaceful and connected to nature. The location is fantastic. Emerald is such a convenient place to stay in the hills — there’s a Woolworths and everything you need for daily life close by. We also visited a chiropractor and an optometrist in nearby, so it’s really easy to access services around the area. The host, Carmel, was wonderful. She is a lovely person and incredibly responsive — always just a text away if we needed anything. Because we were staying for a longer period, she even provided groceries for breakfast and cleaned the apartment once a week, which we really appreciated. We felt very well looked after during our stay and truly enjoyed our time here. If you’re looking for a peaceful place in the Dandenong Ranges with a warm and thoughtful host, this is a fantastic choice.

No dishwasher or washing machine. For such a long stay it would have helped us save a lot of time.
