Ferny Hill Retreat, Emerald Victoria

What a fun, creative, homely, and welcoming experience. The entire house oozes fun with a relaxed, country vibe. Loved it!

Everything!! The apartment was lovely and the gardens so peaceful. Carmel was the hostess with the mostest!! She has thought of everything! The property was eclectic and artsy yet completely functional for our stay. Cannot fault it and my 12 year old cannot wait to return...neither can I!

The owner kindly responded to my special dietry requirement. The kitchen has so many good quality variety utencils and seasoning. I have never seen so many! I enjoyed cooking my breakfast! Even before I arrived, the owner was very responsive and promptly answered all my questions. We were warmly welcomed on arrival and immediately felt at home. The house is filled with fascinating books etc. and personal touches—I could easily have spent hours browsing the collection. The interior itself is cosy, comfortable, and beautifully maintained. Although we didn’t have much time to explore the garden, it is truly fantastic. Whether you’re a couple, a family with young children, or a group of friends like us, you could easily spend hours enjoying this wonderful space. Of all the accommodations I’ve stayed in, both domestically and overseas, this offered the best hospitality by far. I highly recommend this place to anyone planning to visit the Mt Dandenong or Yarra Valley areas.

Such a remarkable accomodation with lots of art things inside. We really liked that. Carmel is a very kind host and leave you your privacy.

Carmel has thought of everything. The fresh sour dough on arrival really hit the spot. Clean, with plenty of little quirks to tease the imagination. We really enjoyed our stay, a real home away from home. Plenty of room to relax after a busy day. Beautiful gardens and the tree swing is a must do.

Carmel was an amazing host, and the place was absolutely mesmerizing. Breakfast was awesome! And I’ve genuinely never had bread that delicious! Overall, a truly amazing stay, and we can’t wait to come back.

The breakfast was fantastic; we didn't have to bring or buy a thing. There was also beautiful bread baked fresh daily. The location was close to town. Every room had this quirkiness to it. There are books to read, games to play. The host Carmel thought of everything. I would definitely stay there again.

There was nothing I did not like about the this place.

The self-contained flat, adjacent to the Host's bungalow, was marvellous with regard to the facilities provided. Breakfast items were provided, with a good choice of cereals , bread and spreads. For other meals, self -catering was available, with a near-by supermarket stocking all one's needs - but there were restaurents and take-aways available in near-by Emerald.
