Old Chilli House

Unser Aufenthalt im old Chili House war einfach perfekt! Nach einer langen Anreise wurden wir mit einer gekühlten King Coconut von Kris herzlichst empfangen. Das Appartement ist mit viel Lieben zum Detail eingerichtet. Man kann selber kochen oder sich von Kris mit Frühstück oder selbst gemachten Curry verwöhnen lassen. Das Essen genießt man auf dem wunderschönen Balkon mit Blick in die Natur. Der Strand war in einem 20 minütigen Spaziergang zu erreichen ebenso einige Geschäfte des täglichen Bedarfs. Wir würden diese besondere Unterkunft und seinen Gastgeber jedem weiter empfehlen! Ein Highlight unseres Urlaubs!

This home stay made my heart happy the moment I walked in. Kris is quite possible the loveliest human you will meet. He wants you to feel at home and will help you organise any trips you wish to do and is happy to take you in his own tuk tuk. If you are visiting Unawatuna, I couldn’t recommend the Old Chilli House enough. You will not regret it one bit.

Lovely apartment with great facilities. Our host Kris looked after us very well. We had a great breakfast on the sunny balcony every morning. He took us in his tuk tuk any place we wanted to go.

Beautiful place, absolutely loved the sunny patio so having breakfast out there was great - also had a couple of chill-out places in sun/shade with fans, kitchen and bedroom/bathroom were lovely and the surrounding gardens/greenery were beautiful. Kumara was great, taking us to Galle in the evening, recommending places to eat with places being closed for the New Year and taking us to the bus stop for our next stop. Loved it!

10/15 minute walk to Unawatuna beach which we really liked being in the more rural part but something to be aware of :)

A wonderful stay—my first stop in Sri Lanka, and it was amazing! Kris made me feel so welcome and safe. I couldn’t fault a thing—such a lovely home! Highly recommend, and the breakfast was delicious too!

Beautiful place to stay for the last two nights of our trip and Chris was a wonderful host!

Slightly longer journey to the town but we had our own Tuktuk so wasn’t a problem for us, might be a struggle if you were walking

Khris was an amazing host, super helpful and always willing to help and organise reliable drivers, take us into town in his tuk tuk and help with anything we needed. I would 100% recommend you stay for a wonderful experience in Unawatuna.

We only stayed there for a couple of days, but we were extremely pleased with our experience. The hotel owner is incredibly friendly and polite, always ready to help with a smile. He also offers scooter rentals, which was a great convenience for exploring the area. The overall atmosphere was welcoming, and we felt right at home. Highly recommend this place for a comfortable and enjoyable stay!

Old Chili House is an absolute gem! From the moment we arrived, Kris made us feel incredibly welcome. He is one of the kindest and most thoughtful hosts we've ever met; genuinely caring, knowledgeable, and always happy to help. He greeted us with fresh coconut and was full of great tips to make our stay even better. The apartment itself is stunning; spacious, beautifully designed, and set in a lush green garden that offers the perfect escape from the noise. It’s peacefully tucked away, yet just a quick 5-minute bike ride to Unawatuna and the main road. Plus, the WiFi is super good! And you have fully equipped kitchen, and lots of space to lounge around. And don’t miss breakfast - Kris makes the most delicious omelette, paired with fresh fruit and passion fruit jam. If you're looking for the perfect place to stay, this is it! We can’t recommend it enough.

Everything! Home away from home. Beautiful place and room, you have a big terrace and your own kitchen to enjoy. The host was incredibly kind and helpful, prepared amazing local meals for us. He also has his own tuktuk, so can easily drop you off wherever needed. This is definitely a place where you can stay for weeks if you have the opportunity. It is a good location as you are away from the noise of the main street, we will definitely miss our time sitting on the terrace and listening to the sounds of nature.
