Old Chilli House

When your visit starts with a fresh coconut, you know you’re in for a great stay. The apartment is lovely, with the cutest outdoor seating areas—we enjoyed every moment! Kris treated us to a delicious homemade dinner and breakfast, all made fresh. This has been our favorite stay so far!

The location is a bit bumpy by tuk-tuk, but nothing too bad—just a short 10-minute ride. If you’re traveling by motorbike or car, it’s totally fine.

Old chilli house is one of the best places we have stayed. Kris & Devika are extremely welcoming, making you feel at home instantly. Kris is very helpful with planning days out and can also provide travel with his tuktuk. We recommend doing the cookery course with Devika as we’ve learnt how to make an authentic Sri Lankan curry which was delicious. We would also recommend the fresh and tasty breakfast too! The surroundings of old chilli house are beautiful, it has a wonderful jungle feel to it and is only a short tuktuk ride away from the centre of Unawatuna. We particularly enjoyed sitting on the balcony watching the sunrise with a coffee- pure bliss. The apartment has everything you need to make it a comfortable stay, whether that be days to months. Thanks again Kris and Devika for such a memorable experience, we wish to be staying longer! We will certainly recommend to anyone who visits Sri Lanka to stay here and we will be back when we visit again.

Old Chilli House was an outstanding place to stay! The room was beautiful, in a little pocket of nature and a short tuktuk from Unawatuna. Kris and Devika went above and beyond ensuring the room had everything we needed and regularly cleaned. We enjoyed some of their homemade breakfasts and would recommend this to anyone staying - we were also lucky enough to be treated to Devika's amazing curry. Kris kindly offered a tuktuk service, and was a huge help planning trips out - he has fantastic recommendations and also works with a wonderful, reliable driver. We arrived as guests and truly left feeling like we had a great friend and would not hesitate to stay here again.

Very good conditions. Quiet away from the hustle and bustle of the local community. The host is a wonderful person. Kris helped us a lot to recover our lost luggage by the airlines. I envy myself that I was there. I highly recommend . This apartmentthe place is clean. nothing is missing.

We had the pleasure of staying at Old Chilli House for three nights, and we were truly delighted by the warm welcome from the friendly owners. The room was exceptionally quiet, clean, and well-furnished. We appreciated the various relaxing areas and the convenience of having our own kitchen. We stayed at the Old Chilli House with Kris and his family for 3 nights. We were greeted with such a warm welcome - on arrival Kris and Devika gave us king coconuts and Devika cooked us amazing curries (prawn, beetroot, bean). Kris was so helpful giving us tips about the surrounding area, restaurants, and also lent us his snorkelling masks and was very happy to drive us to Galle and Mirissa. The property was clean, spacious and had beautiful views from the balconies. We especially loved having breakfast on the balcony amongst the forest and wildlife. A lot of thought had been put into the property - it came with adaptors, bottled water, mosquito net. We cannot recommend the Old Chilli House enough - thank you again for your hospitality!
