"Unwind, unplug and immerse yourself in a natural, un-spoilt piece of heaven with game for company."

8.0

We loved the beautiful, scenic, serene location. The rolling hills and majestic mountains were awesome. The herds of antelope—from Eland to Springbuck, Zebra to Baboons, Dassies to Ostrich—were wonderful to observe in their unspoilt environment. The wood-fired hot tubs were inviting and relaxing as the sun set and the temperatures began dropping. We loved that this guest and game farm was completely off the grid, using only treated borehole water, gas geysers, and gas stoves. The amenities were modern and good quality. The Kitchen utensils were excellent, as were the beds, decor and bathrooms. They even provided the basic toiletries. Bring your toothbrush, toothpaste, hairbrush and face moisturiser. Don't forget sunhats and sunblock. Also, the gravel road leading to the game farm is about one hrs drive before reaching the main gate. So make sure you have the right vehicle. There is no access to the internet when on the gravel road and minimal at the farm. Also, shops are quite a distance away - so stock up well with food supplies before you get to the guest farm. It is self-catering. Don't forget a good book to read. The owners Jaco and Collette were wonderful, friendly hosts - very concerned about our comfort. The staff were super friendly and very helpful - especially Blommie.

The only downer was the long gravel road before we reached the entrance gate - a 1-hour drive. Then another short drive to get to the site. But it was a small price to pay for the splendour of the unspoilt environment.

"Absolutely stunning part of the world!"

6.0

This was exactly what we were looking for as far as remote location in between beautiful mountains. We loved the hiking and mountain biking trail options, as well as the ability to self 4x4 drive. We saw a variety of wild such as zebra, eland, grey reedbuck, springbuck and lots of birds - both on foot/ bike and by car. Stunning nature and scenery!

The various accommodation options did not match our expectation of being remote and private. All the places are quite close together which means you do not have complete privacy as a couple. It would be much better suited to a bigger group of friends who want to be staying close together. This was not clear from the photos and information on the website. Knowing this now, I would definitely rather book the Kliphuis next time round, as this is the only option which is away from the rest of the accommodations. If you enjoy cooking, I would also suggest taking along some more kitchen utensils such as carvers knife, bigger pan, extra chopping board to be more efficient in the kitchen.

The peacefulness and quietness.

Would've liked a cold water pool. But we knew there wouldn't be one. The front section of the house blocked the beautiful view when laying in bed. So maybe a barn door would work.

"My thoughts are still running back to this weekend at Desert winds. Unforgettable"

10.0

The location was absolutely stunning, and the unit we stayed in was a true hidden gem. Everything exceeded our expectations. While the unit is off-grid, this turned out to be its greatest strength. Disconnecting from cell phone signals and Wi-Fi allowed us to fully immerse ourselves in nature and reconnect with our thoughts. The unit itself was uniquely designed, blending nature with comfort in the most thoughtful way. Nestled at the foot of a mountain overlooking a serene riverbed, we were mesmerized by the wonders of the night sky. The experience is almost beyond words—it’s something that truly needs to be lived to be fully appreciated. Highly recommended!

Arrived later than expected. No firelighters to start the fires, so maybe make that a standard to the room.
