Residence Villa Rosa

Firstly Luciano the host was magnificent for us when we arrived very late and had to call him as we’d taken a wrong turn and got the hire car stuck down a steep narrow road. He was also willing to get up early for us leaving at 5:30am (for a fee). The gardens are kept really well and the pool area is great. The views from the balcony and the front bedroom are marvellous. For the young and fit the 360 or so steps up and down to the little seaside town of Atrani means you don’t need a car necessarily if you don’t mind a walk.

I confess to thinking most of rural Italy looks tired and in need of decoration and new furniture. The double bed mattress felt like it could have been an original of 50 plus years. The kitchen and bathrooms are rural basic. If you’re not prepared for tight and winding roads and the long steep drive to the property then you’re in for a shock and don’t take a large family on an estate car - minis and mopeds recommended. Taxis are unbelievably expensive - £100 return to Ravello that is 10 mins and only a couple of miles up the hill. The area is enchanting and the property great if you know what to expect.

Great view and quiet and Luciano was very welcoming.

Only one comfy chair in the living area, plastic cups would of been good to take to the pool and maybe larger glasses in the cupboard for larger drinks, no mention of the traffic light system you had wait in to get in and out of the property and maybe some small condiments or a herb garden for cooking with to save you from buying too much which you have to leave or throw out.

It has one of the most beautiful views I have ever seen and looked exactly like the photos and I was in contact with the Villa handler (Luciano) who was superb! He was quick to respond and we had flight issues and were a day late but he worked with us and met us at the Villa to check us in and show us around! He was very informative and kind!

Be advised! We got mixed info on getting to Ravello such that is a bus and there isn’t a bus. We saw one but didn’t see any stops and to take a cab from Amalfi is $60-100 euros for a 2-3 mile drive. To go down into Atrani is around 400 stairs which we didn’t mind but don’t bring large luggage unless you have a taxi or a car! The shower was also VERY small!

The apart was spacious for 5 of us 2 bedrooms 2 adults and 3 children Views from apart were lovely with private pool for residents The host Luciano was very polite and helpful The location was lovely to go to Atrani and Amalfi but had to tackle over 1000 steps to get to Atrani walk from there to Amalfi was absolutely lovely

The walk to and from the local amenities over 1000 steps which were not detailed in the advertisement on booking.com and taxi would go directly to apartment due to very narrow lanes which meant we have to pull down which wasn’t too back but pull up our luggage to the main gates I complimentary tea it coffee just kettle and a sachet of lemon tea Furniture and decor little dated but was ok The pool was lovely not if u have small kids who want to play in advised no ball games in the pool Taxi service is very limited in this part of Italy and needs to be booked in advance and be prepared the money not cheap at all neither are the rikhshaws The hot drinks machine is available by the pool side but had ants in my drink twice didn’t try a third time No iron in the room would have to tell up to the laundry room to iron clothes Also be aware there is 200 euro deposit for recycling Either check before 6:30am there is a charge The accommodation was nice and clean but inundated with ants in kitchen bathroom and bedroom

The location had a beautiful view of Atrani and it was a 10-15 minute walk to the next town: Amalfi. So, location was excellent. Parking, although tricky given amount of space, was provided which is not to be overlooked in this area of Italy.

There are 10 units in this apartment area; ours was one of the biggest - Unit 4 (3 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms) but very sadly, it had no access area to outside (no deck, no balcony) so you are left looking out 1 of 3 doorways (not windows) to the coast below. There are no lamps in living area, just overhead, inexpensive lighting. If booking in April, which we did, the weather in the evenings dips to 10-13 degrees Celsius: there are no heaters so the evenings are cool/cold and not pleasant for relaxing. To be clear: this should NOT be an issue for summer booking! There was nothing in the apartment upon welcome; for the price you pay, salt and pepper, some sugar...maybe coffee/tea is expected. The "coffee maker" is a stovetop, expresso percolator which, understood, I am Italy, but not purposeful for anyone beyond 2 expresso sipping tenants. I do not mean to belittle the property, but if I am asked to review, which I always am and I always have, then this is my honest assessment: great location, but besides beds for 6 (sleeping), this is not worth the cost in my opinion. Also, I limit this to Unit 4 as I did not see the other rooms/apartments. The pool area was closed when we visited so this would provide some place to gather and relax outside in the warmer months.

Wonderful location above Atrani (just nearby "Marge"s house, which is fun if you're a fan of Netflix's "Ripley") Sure, there are a lot of steps to climb, but we managed even though I was pregnant during our stay and had planned to use our car. It's a beautiful charming walk all the way to Amalfi. Ravello is a bit further away. The apartment and view were absolutely beautiful, and the bed was comfortable. Luciano was very kind and took his time to answer questions about Atrani, even though we kept him waiting for us due to a late flight. Overall, I can't imagine finding a place with better value for money, and am very happy we chose to stay in a place surrounded by nature, rather than the hoards of tourists in villages like Amalfi and Positano.

There was no heating in our apartment (no 2), and it got quite cold at night. Some things are due for an update; the outdoor furniture are in pretty bad shape, and the water heater in the kitchen got dangerously hot, for example. It would also have been nice to have some coffee in the room, seeing as it's quite a trek to go get some from the nearest shops in the morning.

Loved the place! It was so beautiful. Luciana was an incredible host. He helped us with everything we needed during our stay. So quick to answer, showed up immediately. Great at giving suggestions while we were there.
