"A gold mine inside Aswan - they help with everything you need"

9.0

Amgad or Mageck was responsible for managing everything on the stay and he also managed everything of our tours to aswan, always offering good prices and good suggestions for us. He was always really attentive to us regardless the time of the day, we always knew we could count on him. We had an incident on the Abu Simbel visit (we need to be a little late to leave because of the roads), but he was very transparent and clear on communication and helped us through. Place location is very good, elephantine island is a goldmine inside aswan, if you want a really good place to relax and to know the locals, this place is for you. You can walk by yourself and talk with locals without being afraid of being harassed. Nubian people are very polite and gentle with everyone, you literally feel home with them. The guest house location is very good as well, we could even swim in the nile river at the afternoon! Great experience! Bedroom was quite comfortable by the price we paid and bathroom was decent.

Bathroom is the weakeast part of this acommodation: it's not much clean and the shower is in the same space of the toilet - so there is water leaking to all the floor. However, there is an option of collective bathroom - for low season it's great because we can use mainly alone. However, by the price, people and great location it didn't bother us that much.

"Wonderful vibes and a refreshing change from high end accommodation."

8.0

This is incredible value for money. The view over the Nile from the roof top dining area is magical and the host Abgad was always on hand to help and very unusually for Egypt, was laid back and never hassled us. The island itself has a distinctly different character to anywhere else we visited in Egypt. It remains a 1970s, backpackers paradise, the island is not suitcase friendly, and don’t expect any frills.

"Great views of the Nile and the desert"

9.0

The location of the house is superb. Especially the view from the rooftop terrace. To enjoy the breakfast there is something special. You can see the Nile and the flourishing green Botanical Island and in the background the sand dunes. Our host was also very helpful. He made everything to make our stay comfortable.

The room itself was pretty small and the furniture is basic. But this is normal on this island. It could have been cleaner.

Shower was not great (could work around it though).

"An acceptable stopover for a short trip to Aswan with a great view and a nice, accommodating host."

6.0

I took a spontaneous two-day trip to Aswan while staying in Luxor to get an insight into this beautiful city, and above all, to travel on to Abu Simbel. My expectations were exceeded: I went on a lovely boat ride to some of the surrounding highlights (Kitchener's Island, the Tombs of the Nobels) with Amgad, my host, who patiently waited for me while I did my sightseeing. He also organised a transfer to Philae Temple (a must-see!) and my trip to Abu Simbel (just wow!), all for a reasonable price. I also loved the view of the Nile from the rooftop and the tranquil atmosphere on Elephantine Island with its friendly inhabitants.

The room was maybe a bit too basic. No problem for two nights, but a functioning shower would have been nice, and I had to ask for fresh sheets, a towel, and toilet paper. But I got them, so no drama.:)

"Great little guesthouse - well run with helpful management"

8.0

Great service with Anjep providing packed breakfasts for our early starts and also arranging transportation by private boat. It's great value - give the Movenpick a miss and save your $ for the wonderful temples and tombs

Rooms were missing some towels and its a hard place to get to independently. Island does not have paved roads (all dirt and sand) so luggage is problematic without their private transfers
