An excellent Scottish breakfast plus additional condiments, juices and coffee The friendly, professional staff!

I've had to stay in quite a few guest houses, hotels and airbnbs in Ayrshire for family reasons recently, and Beaches gets my gold medal for comfort, cleanliness and kindness. Everything was tip top in my room, really spick and span, with a lovely comfy big bed with crisp cotton bedlinen that beckons you to get under the duvet and stay there! The ensuite shower room was pristine with a good shower. Jan the landlady is a star and she made me feel very welcome indeed...for example, she left a charming tin of home made star-shaped shortbread in my room for my visit just before Christmas, and brought me a mince pie and a few of her home-made truffles when I arrived too. Breakfast at Beaches is very much worth having - after one of Jan's 'full Scottish' breakfasts, you won't need to eat for the rest of the day, believe me! She cooked everything to perfection for me and I really enjoyed chatting to her; she is the master of what I'd call 'quintessential Scottish banter'. So, yes, I would absolutely love to stay at Beaches again - although I think I'll be lucky to get a room in spring/summer at short notice. The location is just perfect to walk to both the beach and the town centre, and I imagine vacancies at Jan's will be few and far between in high season. In summary, I thoroughly recommed Beaches to you.

Reasonable price for exceptional accommodation. Spotlessly clean and fresh

Thankfully there was nothing I didn’t like.

The host was friendly and welcoming - nothing was too much trouble. Breakfast was amazing (and big). The choice of breakfast was fantastic from the fruit pots to the home made jam to the cooked breakfasts. The location was brilliant as it was really close to the sea front which is what I wanted. Despite the weather, we had an amazing time.

The bathroom we had was a little small but it didn't bother us that much. Other than that, everything was perfect.

Jan keeps a lovely home and its is presented beautifully. The bedroom was clean and very comfortable. Everything you would want in the room, including fresh milk in the fridge and home made shortbread. Breakfast was amazing, great selection and very traditionally Scottish. Jan is a real gem, very chatty and engaging. It was a real pleasure to share her home.
