Thr host was very helpful and friendly. She didn't take the payment for our dog for the night . This was very kind and asked about our dog who was in the Veterinary hospital. Thank you .

The bed in this room wasn't comfortable. But to be fair I have a fracture to my spine. And the fridge on floor can be difficult if you have back issues and can't bend over like me.. My husband also has a bad back .

The location was good

The attitude of the hostess. We had trouble accessing the key locker because my husbands fingers have arthritis. So after about 5 minutes the hostess appeared at the side gate and said the keys are in the locker, which we already knew but it wasn’t easy to access. She didnt introduce us to the room, just said basically, there it is. The side gate access also has a security code. So once we got settled in our room we decided to order a takeaway meal as we hadn’t eaten much all day. We asked the takeaway restaurant to deliver to our room and not the main house. At around the time our meal was due to arrive I thought it would be best if I stood outside to wait, my husband took our dog for a walk at the same time. The hostess teaches yoga and had clients in the garden, they left, then there was another session, they left, then a single person arrived for a one to one. When this client arrived they shut the side gate. My husband came back with the dog and we tried entering the code to the gate so they could go into our room, but it didnt work. We tried several times, but unbeknown by us you had to clear the code before re entering it. Anyway, I rang the hostess on her phone so that she could let us in. I got a message saying can we wait. No, of course we couldn’t as all our belongings, money etc was in the room and we’re locked out on the drive still waiting for our meal to arrive, and if it did we couldn’t pay as the money was inside. So I rang the front door bell, got no answer, I then knocked on the side gate, got not answer, so I banged on the side gate. This time we got a very rude response from the hostess. She opened the gate and said you were given a code, and I said yes but it didn’t work. So she treated us like imbeciles and showed us 3 times how it worked. Had we known how these locks worked it might not have been so bad. We were also sent texts with regards to payment for our dog to stay, but no link attached, I texted back to see if cash could be accepted. W

Functional little room with a fridge, and a good shower, bed was comfy, was close to where I needed

Some confusion with the wifi - the privacy element was not great as unless the curtains are all locked closed there are definitely lines of sight into the room - after I left the host sent me a strange message which was clearly meant for a subsequent guest so was a little jarring.

Location close to St Albans, good to also have the woods across the road for dog walking.

Overall the communication didn't feel very welcoming, with long list of rules in capital letters and exclamation marks in email comms and printed on at least 3 posters on the walls.

Friendly host, nice location.

Self-catering facilities weren't adequate.

Location was amazing Clean and great bathroom Bit difficult for over 70s to get out of bed ! And felt space a bit restricted
