Deshon Qala Guest House

The location is very good, just located outside the south gate of Itchan Qala. The environment and facilities are clean. They serve good breakfast with a fast manner. The staff can speak English and she was very nice to arrange transportation for me in and out of the city.

There is some unpleasant smell in the bathroom. There is also no table for me to put my stuff inside my room.

The guest house is located just next to the south gate of the walled old city and it is within walking distance of Kiva Railway Station. There are some small stores where you can buy fruits and vegetables inside and outside the old city. The friendly and attentive staff speaks good English, and breakfast was excellent. It was an amazing stay. An Italian traveler I met in Samarkand recommended this guest house, and I also highly recommend this hostel.

Our hosts were very helpful with us feeling like part of an extended family with them and most of the other people, who we shared the guest house with. From our airport pick-up, which was arranged through the guest house through to a personalised tour on our way back to the airport, by Maftoola, we really enjoyed all that the guest house had to offer. This includes the proximity of the guest house to the old city, the included breakfast, restaurant recommendations and the home made biscuits.

There was an occasion where the power was lost for about 30 minutes, which meant that there was no water or internet. This occurred without the knowledge of our hosts, who once informed, contacted the power company and the power was soon back on.

Great location next to the South Gate, one minute walk to the old town but fortunately just outside the noisy touristy area, close to all major attractions and shops. The owners are super friendly, welcoming, helpful and speak good English. Shared kitchen is well equipped, good Wi-Fi. Clean rooms, toilets and showers.

No privacy curtains or lockers in the dorm rooms. Sometimes there are few problems with the electricity but this is a problem in Khiva as a whole (owners do their best to keep the inconvenience to a minimum) Water pump was a bit loud

Great location right by the city wall, helpful and friendly staff, nice quiet surroundings.

Some issues with cleanliness, towels and linen could be cleaner. The water pump is very loud and a bit annoying, although it doesn't go through the night.
