Himana Beach Rest

Fantastic location right on the beach with great views. Host was helpful and kind

The room and bathroom were grimy. Real ingrained dirt. This property could be outstanding with a deep clean.

The view was great and the AC worked well.

It wasn't particularly clean, the beds were not comfortable, we couldn't connect to the WiFi at all, we couldn't contact the host when we needed to leave so just had to leave the money in the room which wasn't ideal - I messaged the host to let him know as soon as we found WiFi elsewhere but he's not replied. We went swimming in the sea and the host was there watching us the whole time - it may have been innocent but it made me feel really uncomfortable.

I loved sleeping to the sound of crashing waves. Indica, the owner, is such a kind gentle man and it really felt like an authentic sri lankan homestay. AC in the bedroom was excellent.

He didn't respond to my messages but was always super helpful in person.

The owner is a really friendly, helpful and kind person. He offered me bananas when I arrived, helped me figure out which bus to take to get back to Colombo and also helped me answer phone calls when using the pick me app. The location is also right by the beach, one can fall asleep peacefully listening to the waves at night. The bus stand with express busses back to Colombo is just a short walk or Tuk Tuk drive away.

Just keep in mind the beach is not a super touristic one (regarding meeting other foreigners) and people don't seem to go for a swim there but one can see how locals enjoy their time by the beach.

Just 10 meters away from the beach which was literally as if private. Quiet local neighbourhood. The owner offered me fresh coconut juice which was from its garden - the best coconut juice ever!

Matar beach just a step away. Matata bus station 10 minutes walk. House is under construction now not finished yet.
