Chalet Karaka

I had an absolutely beautiful stay. I loved hearing the river, so private and comfortable. The shower is such a feature too!! Great being close enough to Takaka without being in the town.

That I didn’t stay longer!

The location was close to what I wanted to do

Clean.

We did not get the room that we had booked. The 2 towels provided were very small, thin and not adequate for a 2 night stay. The microwave was unusable.

The bed was clean. And the shower was lovely.

The description of the place, including the photos, were of another unit. Our unit was right off the road, every car that went by we could hear. Also, the WiFi was useless - not enough signal even for the cell phone to use. We would have been better at a campsite. Ended up leaving one night early. Also, owner was not at the site and was unavailable for communication via phone. Their description of checkout wasn’t accurate (door wouldn’t lock properly). I would not recommend this place.

It is a delightful little chalet, with everything we needed. The tinkling of the stream was rather special. The shower was the best I have encountered; the superb enclosure; the water pressure; the high-end shampoos and the exposure to the bush outside! Wow!

Good location, nice bathroom

I found the listing is misleading as it fails to clearly indicate that there are two accommodation options. Most reviews are for the “deluxe” room, while the “studio with garden view” is a completely different experience—basic and although not much cheaper than the deluxe. Our studio wasn’t in great condition, with spider webs and dust, and its location next to a busy road meant it wasn’t a peaceful experience. Additionally, there was no Wi-Fi and most of the advertised facilities were not available.
