The Elephant Next-Door

We had an absolutely wonderful experience at The Elephant Next Door, thanks to our exceptional host, Janaka. From the moment we arrived, we felt warmly welcomed. Every detail of the establishment was thoughtfully planned, from the charming themed decorations to the delightful menu featuring a variety of delicious foods. The staff were incredibly kind and attentive, making our stay even more enjoyable. Our cottage was a true gem! It was spacious, well-equipped, and incredibly comfortable. The theme beautifully captured the essence of a jungle hut while still providing all the modern conveniences we could possibly need. Thank you for such a memorable stay!

There was nothing to dislike.

The property was well presented and clean. The bedrooms were very clean and had everything you needed. Breakfast was very good and plenty of it .

Wir haben als Famile eine Nacht hier verbracht. Die Unterkunft ist einfach, aber sehr nett gestaltet. Die Zimmer sind sehr sauber und mit allem ausgetattet was man braucht, sogar Yogamatten gibt es. Der Gastgeber ist sehr bemüht und freundlich.

Mit viel Liebe eingerichtete Unterkunft, in der man alles findet, was man benötigt. Die Zimmer ähneln eher kleinen Bungalows mit einer kleinen, ruhigen Terrasse. Man hat seine Ruhe und ist trotzdem sehr nah am Nationalpark. Das Frühstück ist sehr lecker!

The hospitality provided was top notch. Janaka even arranged for us a safari trip at very short notice. The place needs some improvements, but what was offered felt like a home away from home.

Janaka, the host, was very attentive to our needs and went above and beyond our expectations. We all loved the watermelon juice he prepared for us on arrival, and were impressed by the design of the rooms and restaurant. We only stayed for one night but Janaka made sure we felt at home at all times.

Having to choose the meals a day before, although I understand we were a group of 4 and the kitchen needed some extra prep time.

Struttura davvero andata oltre le nostre aspettative. Personale gentile, disponibile e professionale, con possibilità di prenotazione di diversi spostamenti. Dalla plastic free (tranne le bottiglie d'acqua per il Safari) alla pulizia e eleganza delle stanze. Possibilità di pranzare e cenare in loco con piatti locali e internazionali. Dalla tavola al piatto si nota una cura e studio del dettaglio non indifferente e mai trovato in Sri Lanka fino ad ora. La nostra colazione era inclusa e davvero buonissima. Il menù deve essere concordato la sera prima, probabilmente per evitare sprechi. La nostra camera era pulitissima e profumata, con acqua calda, e formata da un piccolo patio con due sdraio e una poltroncina appesa e un tavolino. Non solo, ma anche un anticamera dove erano presenti giochi da tavolo, un divanetto con tavolino, una scrivania e comode strutture dove appoggiare le valigie. Vengono inoltre forniti: bollitore, piatti, posate, bicchieri, caffè, the, zucchero, acqua, asciugamani, asciugacapelli, shampoo, balsamo e bagnoschiuma. Non potevamo desiderare di meglio. In camera è presente anche aria condizionata e una TV. Abbiamo scelto di fare il safari con loro da 12h: si fa colazione e si pranza nel parco, il tutto nel massimo rispetto della natura, tanto che si porta via tutto, incluse bucce di frutta che potrebbero abituare le scimmie a richiedere sempre più cibo. Noi siamo stati fortunati e abbiamo visto elefanti da molto vicino e un baby Elephant di soli 3 mesi: bellissimo! I leopardi sono molto rari (9 in tutto il parco). Molto comoda anche la posizione a soli 10 minuti in jeep dal parco. L'host è stato così gentile da consigliarci anche di fare un salto all'Elephant Transit Home dandoci tutte le indicazioni precise. Che dire? Oltre le nostre aspettative.

Just WOW! This place is so stunning. The owner is super nice und helpful! We would recommend it to everybody! The food is also very good.
