Lake Front Yala Safari

My hosts couldn’t have made me feel any more welcome. They are kind and generous. As a single female traveller I felt very secure in their compound. I strongly advice you book your safari with your host. He’s a confident driver with a keen eye for leopards. Don’t think saving money will serve you well, take a private tour. The guest house is situated close to the park and near to the road the dissects the park. Take an evening safari on the road if you can. The accommodation is very clean. I found it hard to leave these lovely people.

I loved everything - thankyou for the memories

We stayed for two nights. The room was very spacious and clean. The hosts were friendly and welcoming, always ready to help us with anything we needed! They even gave us mangoes and coconuts picked from their garden, and both were absolutely delicious! We ended up going on a safari with them, which turned out to be the highlight of our time in Sri Lanka! It was a one-day safari where we saw two leopards, elephants, and many other animals. They also prepared lunch for us, which we enjoyed by the ocean. We had an amazing time. Their little puppy was so cute and lively—we absolutely adored him! We would gladly return in the future.

Amazing place to stay and also amazing safari! We did the full day safari and it was a great experience! We saw so many amazing animals. We cannot recommend this place enough. The family is so kind and the service is excellent. The room is also very clean and comfortable with high quality Aircon.

Great clean room, with the most lovely family. They took us on safari, and to see the wild elephants the night before, gave us a tour of the temple, and provided lovely dinner and breakfast. They also drove us to Ella the following day. They were all very helpful and made our stay very memorable. Highly recommend staying here.

Nothing to dislike.

Enjoyed the stay in our own space! Amazing location with close proximity to all Kataragama main attractions. Situated right across a lake beside the main road. This place had the best spacious & clean rooms with comfortable bedding when it's compared with other options in Kataragama that's going at these similar rates. Managed by a humble local family and they treated us the best way possible. They even offered morning tea/coffee free of charge in the morning & gifted us some yummy mangoes from their own garden as well at our departure.. Got to know that they can arrange a safari as well if required & saw some great experiences shared by the previous gusts as well.. Parking available. Recommending the place to friends, families & couples who are seeking a peaceful stay :)

Lovely host family. Upon arrival they were quick to offer us tea and biscuits, setting up a table outside our room. We had a lovely discussion with them in the evening, and they gave us mangos and bananas from their tree :)

We had a very nice stay at the Lake Front Yala Safari. The rooms are clean, without moskitos, and it’s quite. The family was very welcoming. The provided food was amazing, and they created a very authentic Sri Lankan experience (e.g. telling you stories, letting you harvest your own coconut, learn/ support in the kitchen). We also booked our safari with them (have seen many animals, e.g. leopards, elephants…), which we can highly recommend.

Further upgrade would be a more hot shower, but no expected for this price and the water wasn‘t really cold at all.

Amazing place! Spacious room with AC, big and comfortable bed and very clean. The owners are incredibly kind people who welcomed us and made us feel at home. They helped us with everything. We did a safari with them in Yala. Great experience. We were even lucky enough to spot a leopard, among other beautiful animals! They cooked the best Sri Lankan food for us and showed us a lot of nice places in Katharagama and nearby. Their lovely daughter gave us a lot of nice information too. It was a true pleasure for us to stay at their place! Thank you for your great hospitality.
