Lodge Ueno Ski

It was a comfortable stay. The room is quite the standard Japanese-styled rooms, with Tatami mats on the floor and sleeping on a futon. The room was decently sized and comfortable for 2 of us, but would struggle if there were more in the room. But overall, it was comfortable and we had everything we needed in the room. Location wise, this was in a really good central location. Near to the bus station where you get dropped off, very near to the main street in the village where the shops and restaurants are, and also walkable to the ski slopes.

Not something I didn't like it, but just putting it here if it wasn't clearly stated so you know what you're booking. It's quite common in other air bnbs too. But you have a shared toilet on each floor. But to take a shower - you have to use the public bath on the first level. This is divided into male and female bathrooms. And there is a onsen inside along with a couple of showerheads at the side. There are no cubicles. So if 'privacy' is important to you, you may want to consider booking another accommodation - maybe one that is more western or indicates private attached bathroom with the room.

The Japanese breakfast in the dining room was amazing! I wish I had booked in a dinner also.

Not a negative, but, perhaps the bathroom/shower being open in the morning for a few hours.

An authentic experience, lovely manager & like minded fellow guests. Position is excellent, onsen is next door & the shared shower space with onsen is great. The Japanese breakfast is an experience worth having! The rooms are warm & cosy!

The hotel is showing its age, the walls are thin, but it’s good value for money. There is only one Western style toilet, but after a couple of nights you get used to this!

Traditional Japanese sleeping arrangements, felt immersed in the culture. Close to the centre of town and the slopes.

Shared bathroom - as in traditional shared Japanese style. Had to use the public onsens which forced me to experience a different culture but if you're expecting an individual hot cubicle shower you may need to visit Sparena down the road.

The Japanese breakfast was really good! Recommend! The location also very good, close to gondola.

The location was excellent. We split our stay over 2 hotels and the location of this one was much better. So easy to stroll to the Main Street to buy dinner and not too far to the ski lifts. The room was very large and easily fitted 4 of us. And a bonus toilet and basin in our room which I didn’t expect.

There is no lift, only stairs. Fine for us but if you are not good with stairs and on the 4th floor it would be hard work.
