Roy's Villa

Roy and all his crew go beyond their abilities to make you feel at home. They all learn your name from the beginning, which is impressive. The facilities are unparalleled and the dorms are clean and spacious. A true gem in Sri Lanka. Will be back!

We loved it here and will definitely be back. Roy’s villa is so good. Beautiful set up for a hostel style. We stayed in the premium delux (free upgrade from delux) the best open shower, huge room, clean, new, and the nets to chill on outside of room. They plan heaps of activities we didn’t do as we had already paid a private tour guide. The food is great and big portions.

We weren’t able to use our card as they said they preferred cash. So just make sure you have cash and enough for all your meals and activities. For 2 people we had 2 dinners each (burger and curry) 2 breakfast each (Avo on toast / egg) 2 coffees each. Between us 4 beers and 2 cocktails and it cost us $200 AUD. Which we also add to pay cash with and wasn’t expecting that much. So nearly didn’t have that amount. Family dinners are ate together and are all the same, which I loved as it meant you got to meet everyone. But it also means that dinner could be 7pm or it could be at 8:30pm. So have a few snacks with you just incase you’re hungry as they don’t have snacks. :) All in all, these things definitely wouldn’t stop me from coming here, as mentioned I’d be back. But feel others should know before booking.

All the staff were very sweet, and they really made it like a social hostel, were you felt at Home. The Daily activities and the family dinners really made it great!

Thank you to Roy, Sonny, Damis and all the staff at Roy's villa for making our first stop in Sri Lanka such a special one. My mum and I stayed for 3 nights. The place is beautiful - there's a lovely rooftop to sit out on and relax, there are yoga mats, there's a swing, a garden and a lovely communal area for breakfast and the family dinner. The rooms were spacious and the bed was comfortable. We thoroughly enjoyed doing all of the activities with Roy and his staff - we did the safari, Pidurangala, lions red, dumbala cave. Everything was well organised and reasonable. The free Cookery class was a highlight. We learned a lot about Sri Lankan cuisine, and of course really enjoyed tasting all the delicious food! Thank you again!

What a wonderful place, but this is becouse the staff is lovely, the best Hostel I have ever satayed. They make your stay unique and that the place keep a special magic for all the travelers who pass by. They make you feel like at home every thing is easy with them. Thank you very much for everything and especially for the surprise you gave me for my birthday, being away from home I felt like I was there. Good Luck for all of you!!
