Hakone Villa

The Villa was on the mountain surrounded by wonderful and peaceful location full of nature. The host was absolutely amazing, so kind and helpful! The beds were comfortable and there is a large bath. We had a beautiful mountain view from our balcony. The building itself is a bit old and not comparable to hotels. It has a very personal charm.

There are many bugs in the area due to the nature. The interior might be a bit outdated.

The host although didn’t speak English is extremely kind, hospitable and friendly. He offered driving us to the bus or train station whenever it was needed. Also breakfasts were very decent and tasty:) The house is a bit remote from the main road but it’s also an asset as it’s quite and tranquil there. It’s around 30 minutes to góra station by walk. This though might be a bit challenging during heavy rains.

The house is a bit rusty and could be cleaner to feel comfortable. There was a smell of must and mould in the house. Although there were heaters in the rooms, it was cold in the bathroom and in the toilet.

The gentleman who runs this place is a gem. At the last second I had to place my parents there rather than myself. He was kind enough to pick them up from the bus drop off despite my getting them off the bus one stop too soon. He even gifted them a dinner when we arrived hungry despite his warning us to eat first. The next morning we were snowed in and he patiently let them stay a few more hours to wait for the busses to resume. His communication was great despite the language barrier - it’s necessary to use this app or others! When I arrived to pick them up I slipped and started a slow long fall and slide down a snowy street. He saw and rushed to place his body in my path and save me like Superman did Lois Lane, risking his own body to save mine. Then he picked up the heaviest bag and walked up the hill securely as I slipped and slid with two lighter bags in hand. Mom and dad reported he was a gem and breakfast was delicious and generous! A bit envious they got to stay and I did not.

The location is a bit remote and it wasn’t clear the shuttle he so kindly offers is weather dependent, so check the forecast before you book. Parents said the common areas were a bit cold at night, if you’re one to use the bathroom then.

The owner is incredibly kind and sweet! He is willing to pick up your luggage from the train station if you are early, so you are able to go sightseeing without your luggage. He will also pick you up when you’re finished for the day and drop you back off at the train station when you check out. Breakfast is free if requested and is a hearty meal!

The owner is very sweet and caring - although he does not speak english, he is still able to communicate with guests well. The location is a bit difficult to reach on foot so he offered to pick us up from the nearest bridge (we got lost and he even picked us up from Gora Station!). Super lovely :)

The property is located up a few hills from the main road, most ideal if you have a car but otherwise he offers pick ups too.

The host was super friendly! He picked us up from the busstop and also dropped us at the bus or train station if we wanted to go there. He also made a nice breakfast (Japanese curry or scrambled eggs with sausages). The house is big and everything you need is there. You need to share the bathroom and kitchen. Our room was large and had a bed and a couch. The surroundings are beautiful.

You can walk from the busstop, but in general it's not nice to walk along the road. But the host is always willing to drop you off and the public buses are good. The house isn't modern, you will step back in time, but it has it's charm.

Good service, but the location is not convenient

It was beautiful and relaxing and easy to get to local shops and bus/trains. We will visit again for sure!

The Host were very friendly and offered to pick and send us to and from Gora train station.

The room is quite comfy but no air-conditioning. Fortunately the weather was cooling when we were there. Having a night light handy would definitely be good
