Rocking Chair Farmhouse

Relaxing, clean and it’s lovely that you have bedrooms and a lovely living room with kitchenette. It’s nice to be able to relax in the living room at the end of a lovely day

We didn't like anything about it.

On the website Rocking chair farmhouse advertises a 2 bedroom house. This is not what the accommodation is! Checking in was not clear, so a lady from the cafe took us up. Essentially there is a farmhouse adjoining to the cafe You go through their entrance hall filled with bottles of alcohol and the large dog cage. Then there are rooms at the bottom of the stairs. Unclear whether people will be using them. Then there is a large open staircase up to a large open landing and your rooms go off there. There was also another bedroom, unclear whether anyone would be using that! No privacy at all, you just had no idea who would be coming in and out. Easily the most bizarre place I have ever booked. I thought it looked nice on the pictures but it really isn't. The setting isn't pretty and the rooms aren't great either. All very old and tatty. I have the pictures to prove it. Views of old fridges and the bins. Feeling very uncomfortable about my privacy and security, I left and booked into a Premier Inn (SO much better), and asked for a refund. The owner has offered an exchange of dates for the autumn/winter. I explained that I just wouldn't have booked it if the description had been worded accurately, and asked for a refund. None has been forthcoming. I have never left booked accommodation before and had to double the cost to myself, so I hope this reflects how I felt about the accommodation on offer. We had spent the previous night in a lovely 2 bedroom flat in Alnwick for less money. Definitely not one for me.

made to feel so welcome from the second we arrived! friendly , helpful staff for which nothing was too much trouble. fantastic breakfast , stunning views and just felt at home. not 5* but i will be back.

shower could do with upgrade but hey.

Staff were lovely, bed very comfortable, good value for money.

How the upstairs wasn't separated from downstairs cafe working area. However, it generally was a place to get ready and rest our heads so was perfect for what we needed it for.

Lovely farmhouse; Friendly staff; Spotless! Kingsize bed; Well eqipped kitchen. 20 minutues ' drive to the Bamburgh castle and town. Free parking outside property!

The team were friendly and helpful and very accommodating for our requests. Really dog friendly and a lovely garden and views. Great location for sightseeing in Northumberland.

It’s worth noting that the ‘kitchen’ facilities only include a microwave, kettle and toaster. We had misunderstood.

Clean and spacious place, and the host was super welcoming and helpful. We were able to check in early due to a wedding we had to go to, and the host was accommodating. The bed was very big and comfortable too!

The only thing we didn't like was privacy. I booked it thinking it would be a 2 bedroom house completely private to ourselves. However, it is an upstairs portion of the farmhouse that has a cafe underneath which had open stairs without a door to separate, just a plastic rollout barrier thing. Saying that during our stay, no one came upstairs, and all the bedrooms had a lock on them, so we did not mind it for the one night stay!

Lovely property with plenty of space. Very dog friendly.

Lovely rooms, great breakfast in cafe there. Staff very helpful and attentive.
