Guesthouse Ogawaya

Overall, it was a decent stay for the price. Lady that met us was friendly and helpful - provided maps, bus schedules, tips, and nearby restaurant recommendations. Facility was rustic, and we were the only guest that stayed the night so that was a plus. Close to Kii Tanabe Station and just 15 minute walk to the waterfront (Ogigahama Park) for a beautiful sunset.

My only gripe, and it's a big gripe, was that when I crawled in bed I could smell the B.O. of the last guest that slept in those sheets. Clearly, the housekeepers didn't bother changing/laundering the linens and just made the bed as-is. Disgusting.

It was fine for us as a couple-it would have been cramped with others using the kitchen and living spaces.

This was the perfect place to stay to start the Kumano Kodo hike! We had the entire place to ourselves and it was close to the bus station.

Spacious, clean room very close to the restaurant area and the station. Our host spoke English and she gave us a lot of information about the area. She suggested we walk to the beach and watch the sun set - it was amazing.

Steep stairs to the room. Most facilities are downstairs.

Lovely lady who welcomed us. felt very homely, beds were comfy and loved the traditional decor

Bare bones facilities. Provides an incentive to discoverTanabe's food scene. Host speaks very well english.
