Pondok IJo Guesthouse

Staff was very nice, we got big room, bed was big and comfortable. Breakfast box was available and with good quality - we can't go for regular breakfast 7-10am. Guesthause is in quiet area away from noisy streets. 

We have chosen guesthouse because of pool, but is was really dirty, green, first step was even not visible how dirty it is - dangerous for anybody health.  Room has A/C but wind is directly blowing to bed with any setting available so you can't use it during night (easy solution for staff is to move bed to opposite side under a/c and furniture and tv to place where bed is now). There is ceiling fan too, but don't work without lights on, so it can't be used during night either (another easy solution for staff is to remove all light bulbs from ceiling fan construction (because there are another separate several lights in room) = then you can use fan in the night). But without this changes we had horrible both nights in total heat. There are many gaps in construction to outside it gets quickly outside temperature. Please mind here is mosque just behind guesthause so you will be waken up at around 4:30am, it is so laud you feel speaker is in your room. 

The personnel is definitely a great value of the spot. Always smiling, very kind, carying about the guests and their plans, and helpful. They have contacts with local drivers who can take you wherever you want for a whole day trip. The rooms are small but it is not a problem if you visit this part of Java for adventure and exploration. Breakfast are not of vast range, but omlets and pancakes as well as fruit were testy and sufficient.

Older equipment, could be cleaner

The villa complex is a lovely cozy place with lush green plants and loads of animals like fish, frogs, geckos and two cute red cats. It’s very easy to reach Malioboro and other areas. Yet it is quiet (except when the morning prayer starts as it’s close to a mosque, but I think it adds to the character) The staff are very friendly and incredibly helpful, they assisted me with getting a last minute tour to the Borobudur and Prambanan temples and even prepared a little breakfast box because of the early pick up times. They love talking to the guests and exchanging stories. I really want to thank Lucy in particular for her efforts in getting me on that tour, she really went above and beyond! 🥰

Nothing to dislike!

Very friendly staff super attentive and they madr us a breakfast package when we told them we were leaving at 6 they also organized our scooters. Good location near lots of restaurants. We really liked the pool. Room was basic but clean and we liked it that much we extended one night.

Very nice place and lovely people. The room was clean and nice, also the lovely garden and the pool. The food was also very good. Would highly recommend asking for a traditional indonesien breakfast :-)

The room was a little small but had everything we needed, the bathroom was spacious and the shower really hot. For breakfast there were a lot of options and it was really tasty. We rented a scooter on 2 days and this was easy at the hotel (cheap and arranged fast). The swimming pool was nice to cool down and big enough. In front of the room there was a spot to chill. The personnel was friendly and even let us use the shower on the evening after check-out as we were taking a night train.

Location, facilities and breakfast were great, but the most amazing was the super kind and friendly personnel. Lucy, Irvan and Duana were always there to greet us with a smile, help us with our questions or just have a nice chat. Thank you! We had an amazing time :)

If we have to say something less positive about the room it has to be the amount of ants. This was not significant enough to make our stay less comfortable, but a (bath)room without ants would have turned the 9 into a 10.
