Old House

Dear Eloisa, We arrived Porto well. Thank you very much for your love and cordial hospitality. The Old house was such a extraordinary and beautiful place, so I wished I stay just one more night. It was only a day, but I will remember you and Mon santo for a long long time. I will come back to you when my child grow up to 7-8 years old. Sincerely, Seowoo

The house was amazing and beautiful both inside and out. Everything you could want was available. We loved all the antiques and collectibles from the owners' family history. We were there on a Monday so the restaurants were not open. Our host offered us a dinner of soup, bread, cheese and baked apples. It was all delicious. The breakfast was also perfect, all brought to us by our host. Another fun fact is because you park just outside of the town she met us there with her tiny electric car to carry luggage to the house. Since we didn't have much luggage, I got to ride to the house with her. It was a special experience. Oh, and the sunset from the porch was spectacular!

The host, Eloise, was super helpful. She makes the entire house available to the guests that has 3BR, full kitchen and living, with a magnificent view of the valley. If you are driving, park at the public parking at the top of the approaching road and get in touch with her, and she will come to pick your luggage in her tiny electronic car.

Unfortunately Eloise does not speak English, so if her husband is not home, like in our case, you will need a good help from your phone and translation app. The best way is to use Whatsup.

Amazing apartment full of character with great view and short walking distance to the sights ! Was also well equipped and sparkling clean! The hosts were incredible in ensuring we could find our way and even helped us to pre-purchase some groceries. The balcony was perfect for having drinks to admire the view.

Monsanto Village is an incredible experience! Eloiza, our hostess, was charming and most helpful. The old house is an old Jewish quarter residence, rich in history, nostalgia, and very romantic! We loved our stay here and time spent with Eloiza.

The old house has 3 1/2 levels and the steps between are narrow and the risers are variable. The bedroom is 4 steps below the second floor which has the closest bathroom. This means you must negotiate the steps in the night if "nature calls". This could be a challenge for mobility impaired persons.

The owner was very sweet, she met us at the town entrance and drove our luggage to her house on her little electric car. She served a very nice breakfast at the time we specified. The beds were very comfortable. The town is very small but interesting.

Everything. Staying at Old House was a highlight of our trip through Portugal and Spain. The accommodation is so unique and full of character, and the hosts are just the best. Monsanto itself is INCREDIBLE and well worth the visit, perfect for 1-2 nights. The place is full of history and character, and the views from the castle at the top are quite impressive. We loved sitting out the front of the house and watching the sunset with a glass of wine. Getting there was easy if you're coming by car. Eloiza came to meet us at the car park and assisted with luggage. She and Fernando will help you up to the house if you find it difficult to walk (it's a bit steep up the hill but it's not that far, maybe 5minutes or so). There's nothing we would change and we would happily return any day. If you want a unique, local/cultural experience, I would highly recommend 😊

Very charming and well equipped house! Very spacious inside and a beautiful terrace with a view on the sunset. The hosts were super accommodating and friendly!
