Gatekeepers Lodge, Dyrham Park - Private & Self Contained, deluxe accommodation, 15 mins from Bath

The Gatekeepers Lodge was a lovely old gatehouse restored with a sympathetic nod to its heritage. It was in a pretty, peaceful surrounding, ideal for a quiet break but within easy walking distance of a local pub with a good food menu. It was also located at the foot of the National Trust’s Dyrham Park. The facilities at the Lodge were good, the shower although not powerful was hot. The bed, very comfortable with extra blankets. The small kitchen was all electric, fortunately for me the instructions were in the drawer. The Lodge was ideal for a short break.

Although the Lodge was nicely restored it was vey compact, possibly on the small side. The layout was possibly the best considering it’s size. It would have been better if the two chairs in the sitting area were more suited to comfort. It was impossible to relax on them for more than 20mins and really not suitable for a man of more than medium height. Also, a toaster would have been better than having to turn the grill on in the oven. Overall the Lodge was a nice experience.

A perfectly charming little cottage in a very secluded location with plenty of walks and country side to see right on the doorstep. Yet still only a very quick 15 min drive away from Bath. The property has everything a couple would need!! The hosts have thought of just about everything you would need!! Lovely outside spaces to use as well if the weather allows it!!

A property of real character. Great use of small space and fun to be in. Lovely walks from property and simple access to Dyrham House. Minor glitch with getting keys handled really well by hosts.

Location was central to visiting Bath, Bristol and Cotswolds. Was a quiet location in a beautiful area and cosy.

Being a small space, it can get hot quite quickly, which on warmer days was uncomfortable. Bathroom on the smaller side. Would have been great to have a washing machine up in little shed.

Location, peacefulness.

Outdoor facilities rather unexpectedly difficult. Easy to trip and fall.

The property was beautiful, high quality and no expense spared on the furnishings and electrical integrated appliances, the smallest of things were thought of. The building itself was preserved and maintained well, such a beautiful location. My husband and I were celebrating his birthday and this was a perfectly fitting restful and peaceful place to stay, the location to the city of Bath was a 15 minute drive. And the log burner was a beautiful touch. We would recommend to all and will definitely be back soon.

Beautiful little lodge, had a very comfortable stay.

Location was perfect. Quiet. Total privacy. Such a beautiful, teeny weeny property. Full of character. Exactly what I imagined.

It probably says on the site, but I hadn’t clocked there is no wi-fi at the property. And the phone numbers for taxis in the welcome pack are out of date. We drove to Pucklechurch instead.
