Location was close to York centre and attractions

Rude & arrogant host. Talked down to & abrupt. Issue with TV, when we rang at 730/8pm his response was ‘are you really ringing me now when I have a pub full of customers?!’ He came when my 4 yo son was already asleep & hammered on the door. He was rude when talking to us & had no customer service skills at all. We booked for 2 adults 1 child but there was only 1 bed in the property. When we questioned this he told us that my son should sleep on a sofa (not a sofa bed) which, if he rolled off, would have fallen onto a tiled floor. He rudely told us to leave & he would give us our money back but our son was already fast asleep. The location of the cottages is good however the accommodation is very grubby with cobwebs & mold. The thermostat for the heating it located high in the ceiling peak & unable to be adjusted. When we woke up the following morning the temp was 17.5degrees

"Cosy warm quiet barn conversion, lovely comfortable bed. Pub on hand if you want it"

10.0

Lovely comfortable bed in a cosy warm barn conversion. Very good value for money and the pub is there if you want it. Breakfast was very good and inexpensive. Close to York, Malton, Castle Howard. Secure parking plus the pub car park, irrelevant really as located in quiet village. Had everything we needed and have booked to go again.

"Exactly what we needed."

Very cosy and warm, with comfy beds and good facilities.

We liked everything. The bathrooms could have had better showers but generally great.

"A comfortable and well equipped cottage in a handy location."

8.0

The location was very good for getting to Sandburn Hall. Much nicer to stay in the cottage than just a room in a B&B. I didn't have breakfast so can't comment on that. The kitchen was fine and well equipped, however another time I would make sure that I took some meals with me as there is no local shop.

There is a locked gate so it is very secure, but the parking was very tight to get in & out. Another guest helped me reverse out as there is no room to turn the car around in the dark. I then just parked in the main car park. The cottage was very warm and the thermostat was up high out of reach so I was unable to turn it down.
