The Davey Tower, Medieval Riverside House

Quirky, and historically interesting, good location.

The tower cottage was cozy and central. It was the perfect stay for our weekend away in York.

Amazing house, amazing view and lots of history.

This is an AMAZING place! By far our favorite accommodations on our entire trip. The location is stellar and the house is appealingly quirky and historic, yet very comfortable. Despite being inside the city walls and right next to the quay, it was very quiet, too. We very much appreciated the comfort of having a sitting room as well as a bedroom, and enjoyed the very high-quality gear in the kitchen. After eating in restaurants most of our trip, it was a real pleasure to shop in local shops and cook our own meals. There is a fabulous bakery practically next door, and across the river (maybe 1/4 mile away) a nice shopping district with a butcher, greengrocers, and Sainsbury Local, which met all our needs. Anyway, Davey Tower was a 10/10 for us -- we would stay there again for sure. And might even come back to York just to spend more time in this lovely little house!

Location, great views of the river, and close to the city centre.. Character of the apartment was great, quirky layout, whole library to browse, large comfy bed. Lots of local information. All just as described.

Potential guests need to be aware the steps into the premises are very steep into the main door and down into the private courtyard.

Apartment was quaint and a little quirky but we loved it. The location right next to the river made it a great place to stay and was quiet as well. Only 10 minutes walk from the town centre and all the major attractions that York has to offer. Would highly recommend and we plan on staying here again next time we come to York

Wonderful location by the river

It could get a bit noisy in the late evenings as seem to be on route home from the pubs for some!

The location is absolutely brilliant. The bed was very comfortable. The proximity to the small adjacent park and riverside walk was great for our dog. Access to the carpark was useful but the description of how to get between the two could be clearer (eg via far side of carpark nearest river, under bridge, diagonally across small park, gate on left).

A bit basic inside. A bit of fresh paint would help, and better cleaned between occupants. A few small touches like a few more basic provisions in the cupboards, a bottle of milk in the fridge, shampoo in the bathroom, etc go a long way. Failed to get the tv working.
