Beautiful property close to the centre

The cottage was really cute and the interior of the bedroom and living room was stylish and cosy. It had a really great view of the river, which made the stay very relaxing. It was also a close to local cafes and a short stroll into town.

There were a few things that could easily be fixed. To start, the instructions to access the property via the river entrance was complicated and unnecessary. We arrived at night and it had flooded, with mud everywhere which made it slippery and unpleasant. I understand this is the nature of the area but it would have made more sense to just put the instructions to arrive at the front of the house instead. The front gate entrance is on the main road literally next to Cosgriff and Sons cafe. Secondly the back door did not have a lock and was in fact open when we arrived - we thought someone broke in. There are other reviews about this so why wouldn’t it be fixed? That being said this didn’t take away from our cottage stay but are just refinements to be made to enhance the experience for other guests.

What you see in the description is not fully true and the pictures must have been many years ago and staged. It is set up different, very used, and not the same furniture. They have a curtain up to block the original front door in the bedroom and it just makes the place look shoddy. The skylight is covered with some sort of cardboard. The bathroom walls are in need of repair and unsightly and the shower curtain is long and cotton so water gets soaked into it. The shower water pours outside onto the garden area. The fireplace that they describe as "Guests will have a special experience as the holiday home features a fireplace". What they don't say is that it's unusable which you find out when you get there and the sign says, "Please do not light a fire in this fireplace" and has a fake plant in it. Not very clean. Only gave two towels for two people staying three nights. Took over two days for the hosts to reply to us. We are requesting a partial refund for false advertising.

Excellent location and good info regarding directions. Comfortable and good level of equipment.

Although clean housekeeping could be improved in some of the rarely used cupboards etc. Several of the radiators require bleeding and problem with damp in bathroom behind toilet. Lock on door into yard broken.

Location was magical. Right on the river.

The back door lock didn’t work, so I had to walk all the way around to the front door to get in in the dark.

Great central location within walking distance of all the attractions great views of the river (which was in flood ) but didn't effect our stay

The location was excellent for sightseeing. River views from the property are wonderful.

There are some very serious maintenance issues. The lower window sill in the bedroom has rotted and air was literally blowing in. The window frame is barely holding the glass in. Some window panes were cracked in the lounge. Bathroom had bare plaster on the walls near toilet and towel rail. Interior doors did not close properly, especially the one leading to the basement. Handle on back kitchen door needs reattaching. Was disappointed in the upkeep. Sofa and carpet in bedroom need a refresh. Exterior areas especially the patio garden need weeding and general maintenance, such as pruning etc. It feels a bit neglected, which is such a pity. Not a great first impression when entering the property from the river side. Feel that the room rate charged needs to reflect an improvement in the maintenance and overall cleanliness of the facilities. Sticker price is high for the nearby unsecured parking.
