"The house served a purpose for 2 nights but it needs some tlc."

6.0

The location was good when we eventually found it, central to Tarporley with a good takeaway on your door step. The cleaner was lovely and very helpful the morning of our departure!

Finding the house was tricky, simpler instructions how to locate would be helpful as it was set back down a drive. There wasn't enough water for everyone to have a shower. I understand the need to conserve water but on this occasion we all needed to get ready for a wedding which took all morning with little luke warm water being able to be used. The bedrooms down stairs in the basement have no natural light. They have installed a vent which pipes air in from outside and they have a dehumidifier in one bedroom but you cannot sleep with these switched on. The rooms still smelt musty which concerned me with young children sleeping in there. The window in one of the upstairs bedrooms was broken so you couldn't close it which was a security risk. I lost a pair of earrings and knew where they were placed but when I emailed to ask if they could be looked for I didn't get a reply back.

"Very poor"

2.0

The 2 bedrooms below ground levels were not used as humidity level & smell was too much despite 24 hrs noisy electric fans. If so, it is not ideal for big families. So if you need to rent avoiding using them is absolutely ok. Facilities were not as described eg coffee maker missing.

"A great place for a family catch up"

10.0

Great cottage, very cosy feel but with plenty of space for us all. (two large families) Really enjoyed the log fire which was great to warm a bottle of wine, we also purchased some local cheeses from the farmers market which were divine!

"Disappointing property needing TLC or repriced, way too expensive. Do not rent this property."

1.0

The location

It was shabby, many facilities were broken eg the bath was not sealed and tiles broken, fridge seal broken, blinds were not installed, window handle was in a wardrobe. The basement was uninhabitable and so we slept on the sofa and the floor. No windows in the basement, fire risk for children. No sign of a carbon monoxide monitor. It felt like it had been neglected for a while. Outdoor area was soulless with no plants at all. Furniture was poor quality. Note said that we could not use the fire which was a pity as it could have made it cosy but I’m not sure I would trust it anyway. Toilet seat was broken in both toilets.

"Great location but property would benefit from a little attention and it would have been nice to have got a response aft"

7.0

A good size property in an excellent location for Chester and Chester Zoo. Good facilities.

The bedrooms downstairs had no windows or means of escape in case of emergency or fire. We reported a faulty toilet (which already had a broken seat and a message taped to the wall stating they were waiting for a part) that was constantly filling up and also the fact one of the ventilation fans downstairs was not working but we had no acknowledgement or response. We ended up fixing the toilet ourselves.

"We loved it!"

10.0

This was my first time staying in Tarporley Holiday Cottage and we loved it! The cottage itself is large and has 5 bedrooms which are all comfortable and managed to fit in all of my extended family with ease (there was 10 of us) including our corgie Lizzie. The house has 3 levels and two separate living areas on two separate levels which means the kids and teenagers hung out in the basement games room while us parents chatted, drank wine and cooked in the upstairs kitchen and lounge. It was great. Lizzie enjoyed the garden which was great for her, and also the walks around the fields and through the village. We did a big walk one day resulting in a lovely Sunday lunch at the pub in the village which also allows dogs, so it was perfect. We have just re-booked for a Christmas break as we loved it so much. Thanks to the lovely hosts for a genuinely lovely holiday home.
