"Romantic Christmas away from the world"

10.0

Beautiful cottage and surrounds with all the facilities you could need for a restful break. Lovely kitchen, gorgeous bathrooms and homely throughout.

Master bed uncomfortable and noisy so we slept in the twin bedroom - not as romantic but super cosy and comfortable.

"Would i stay again. Yeah probably in better weather. Hosts need to be more communicative."

7.0

Location was great. When we arrived it was lovely and warm considering we arrived the day before the UK was hit by a massive snow storm. Loved the electric sofas, liked the fact that there was a downstairs and upstairs loo. Also liked the fact there was ice ready in the freezer. Compact and just a nice place for a get away

The next to nothing contact from the owners. Place was clean but showing signs of wear especially upstairs as the head board in the main double room wasn't even attached and I also couldn't find the socket next to the bed. The bedding was too big for the quilt and i almost tripped on it. Lighting in the bed rooms was a bit boggling also with a family bathroom and an ensuite shower woth a downstairs loo seemed over kill making the double room smaller than it needed to be and the shower cubicle was ridiculously small but I suppose the shower over bath makes up for that. The remote to the tv was appalling. We tried using batteries from the tv upstairs but it didn't help. Considering the extreme weather conditions I would have at least expected that main pathways should have been cleared and the car park salted but no. Very dangerous underfoot and took me three attempts to get the car out the car park because of Snow and ice. No external bin facilities no where for recycling (kept cardboard and other recyclables out but don't know if they will get sorted)or to put dog waste bags so had to leave bagged up at the rear of the property as no outside bins and didn't wish to put it in the kitchen bin And also considering the conditions a curtesy to make sure guests are OK wouldn't have gone a miss. Considering it's self catering I paid £347 for 3 nights stay with myself my 14yr old daughter and two dogs. A bit on the pricey side especially for the time of year but then I knew that when I paid it. Sent a request to check in earlier than the time 3 days before arrival. Didn't get a reply until we had already arrived and got into the property 10minutes before the normal check in time. When we arrived there was noone in the reception area so had to drive round to find the cottage name ourselves.

"Bad"

1.0

The area is nice and quiet. Had a roof over our heads. That was about it.

There was barely any hot water - enough for 1 bath a day and between a couple we had to share! The showers didn't give any hot water, and when I asked at reception, they advised they would look into it but never did. When I quizzed them on the final day, they advised the maintenance man hadn't been in. When it's winter and you don't have any hot water, it's quite bad. After quizzing on the last night, the person at reception advised they would give me a discount on my next stay; you couldn't pay me to come back to this awful place. The bathrooms were dirty, and the kitchen still had crumbs everywhere from the previous stay. The headboard on the double bed kept hitting the wall on the slightest movement. All in all, the location was nice, but the service was terrible. I would strongly advise people not to book here as it seems all they want to do is take your money and they don't look after the properties correctly. To have no water and dirty rooms is unacceptable. And to only offer a discount on my next stay rather than perhaps offering a part refund was a joke. Disgusted at how awful the property was and have already been spreading the word around about this con.

The setting of stone cottages found the lake is lovely and very peaceful. The cottage was very nice and well furnished with 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.

It is totally self catering. There isn't a shop or a cafe. Customer service is not the best. We had a non flushing toilet and a TV remote that wouldn't work. We reported these to reception but nothing happened. It didn't spoil our stay but it was a bit disappointing.

"Fantastic location, stunning views. peaceful and relaxing. Would definitely recommend."

Location was perfect. The grounds were stunning and wonderful views over looking Darwin Lake. The cottage had everything we needed and was like home from home.

We had issues with the smoke alarm which kept going off and we had to reset it a fair few times but that was as we were leaving so it didn't affect our stay.
