Beautiful cottage after spending a rather chilly day at Chatsworth House yesterday Walked in to a toasty warm cottage with everything you needed for a perfect stay

Great location a stones throw from Chatsworth and the Dales. The 'village' is very well presented and tidy. The staff present were as helpful as they could be.

Despite how clean tidy and well presented everything looked it failed on the most important aspects. The mattresses in our cottage were the awful, cheap type with springs poking through that fell far below the standard the place presented itself as holding. We had awful nights sleep feeling exhausted and groggy the next day. Additionally, we had specifically booked these cottages because they had a bat tub so we could have a soak after a long day out. The boiler was not working properly and they were not able to quickly remedy it, so we did not have any hot water for washing or baths. After two nights we were exhausted and in need of a good wash. Lastly, the pots and pans provided were all mismatched with none of the lids fitting and many of them not compatible with their convection stove top making the self-catering aspect frustrating. Overall pretty poorly organized in the most important details. Lastly, after a day of heavy snowfall the snow on the footpaths had been compacted and was very slippery in many areas. This included along paths to the cottages that ran 1 meter along the side of the small lake - substantiating a significant hazard. When I asked if the paths were going to be gritted I was told by the staff that they had asked but the managers said they don't do that 'because they would then be liable'. I'm fairly certain if they did not maintain the paths and someone had an accident they would quickly find themselves liable anyway. This is utterly shameful hiding being a spineless sense of liability and placing it over doing what is right or necessary to ensure guest safety.

The property was spacious, modern and clean. The surroundings were very well maintained and our view across the lake was beautiful.

There was nothing negative about the property.

After arriving at a different booked place to find it closed. Managed to get this place and it was a lovely cottage. Everything was there for our needs and great location.
