"A well equipped property, but not the best location!"

7.0

A quirky, well equipped house, close to the centre of Scarborough. Friendly hosts with excellent communication, who’ve thought of and provided everything they can for a comfortable stay.

Unfortunately there are two things (both out of the owners’ control) which spoiled the trip for us. Firstly, there is another adjoining property, with a room which is located directly above the master bedroom. The first night of our stay was one of the worst nights of sleep we’ve had, as the people upstairs were continually and loudly walking around directly above, us from about 2:00am to 4:00am. Secondly, Scarborough itself and the streets around the property in particular are a study in urban deprivation, with discarded mattresses, broken glass and dog mess :(.

I loved the extra effort to make it as dog friendly as possible. The beds are very comfortable Home was very clean throughout Lovely little court yard Great location. Very central.

Information about dog cleaning additional charge to be a little clearer Before booking. this was missed when comparing options within booking.com. usually to total cost is shown on the booking.com page. Bath hot tap didn't run very hot

"Delightfully quirky, Home from home with all home comforts provided."

10.0

Great locatiion central to town up a quiet back street, short walk to town centre shops and beaches. Quite quaint and quirky decor, heating was on and very welcome, at the time of year. Excellent easy to use shower. Everything was provided and was clean and fresh. Quite clwar that a lot of effort had gone into making our stay comfortable and enjoyable.

Probably not that practicle to provide but a little cover in the back yard to sit under whilst having morning coffee and evening glass of wine would have been good as it rained a lot.

Quirky little house, perfect for a birthday treat for a friend. Lovely little treats and touches left by the owners. The location is perfect for the town centre and the north and south bays. It was the perfect relaxing retreat.

The record player didn't work, parking was expensive and a pain in the bum and for some reason we struggled with hot water for the bath .. probably just us !

Initially the welcome information and treasure hunt appeared to be helpful and thoughtful

No heating and no hot water. The boiler showed 0.0 bars. Anyone who has ever had any work done on boilers or owned their own home knows this is a boiler that needs topping up/adjusting. This was supposedly rectified by the owners on the first night. It lasted approximately 6 hours (this is a generous approximation). It took forever to heat up and the house smelled of damp. We woke up around 7am the next morning absolutely frozen and once again no heating or hot water. I was very wheezy and in a lot of pain (as being without an even warm temperature had caused an exacerbation in my long term conditions). My children were also grumpy and we all set about having to layer up while we boiled the tiniest kettle in the world for some hot water. Beds were adequate but we were not able to complete our stay due to being without heating and hot water. Whilst the owner said they could ‘try’ for a plumber we would inevitably have had to wait and been without the heating and hot water in that time. We felt we had no choice as without the basics of heating and hot water in late autumn it was extremely untenable. Unfortunately the hosts do not feel they are able to refund us partially for the awful experience as they say it’s out of their control. If you didn’t keep turning the whole boiler on and off maybe you wouldn’t have issues. My children have had their half term ruined and us our annual leave. We are left as a family really upset and disappointed as it was supposed to be a well earned break and time to relax. Succinctly if you’re ok going to a property that is cold, has no hot water, and has mould. Go ahead and book.

"disappointing"

4.0

where can i start with this one, first impressions weren't very good, front door and frame was very dirty, we had to park miles away, cost us 24 in parking over the 2 days, everywhere was disc zone and we weren't provided with one, the living room is very dark and cluttered, the hand rail on the stairs is dangerous ,it only goes half way up ,and there's nothing to hold on to at the top ,i also didn't like having to figure out the boiler use ,i can't even figure out my own boiler, moving on to the bedrooms ,the bedrooms were ok ,a very big issue ,is there was very loud arguing and shouting outside ,even 3am on Saturday night ,neighbour's slamming doors so it shook the house ,we were going to leave on Saturday night because of ,the noise ,also the toaster didn't work so we unable to have toast oh and i was very disappointed we weren't provided with a drop of milk, after a four hour journey ,you need a cuppa not a lollipop
