Bedford House Retreat

Lovely property in quiet residential street but near to facilities. Lovely decorated rooms with unique touches. Beds were comfortable, and there were plenty of lovely plump pillows. Kitchen was well equipped. Little seating area outside with pretty lights at night. Some people mentioned the stairs but I managed perfectly well with my dodgy knee. Good value and the perfect temperature without heating during our September stay.. Nice to have a bath.

That we couldn't stay longer..We will be back.

Comfortable enough, close to local supermarket. Seemed a safe area and fairly quiet. The kids enjoyed the treasure hunt for their surprise sweets.

Parking was an absolute nightmare. After about £40 in parking fees and a parking ticket there's no way i'd stay here again. The toaster didn't work, unless you held it down. No plug for the bath.

Liked the home from home, the 'quirkiness' and the closeness to all the beaches, parks and entertainment.

We loved the Bedford house retreat when we arrived in Scarborough. The property was in an ideal location. It was around a 10min walk to the beach and the local amenities were a stones throw away. We enjoyed the spacious bedrooms and bathroom especially as we were travelling with 2 children……we definitely enjoyed the extra space. The beds were comfortable for us all and we enjoyed all the extra decorating touches the hosts had added. We also enjoyed the outdoor area, it was perfect for some quiet time after a busy day.

The living room area wasn’t very comfortable to relax in in the evenings as the sofa was hard. But we didn’t mind this as we were out most days and evenings so we didn’t spend a lot of time in the living room area. Our holiday to scarborough was great and we really enjoyed our stay at the Bedford house retreat up until the last day. Unfortunately we had a terrible experience at the property due to an unwelcome guest (a rat) hijacking our stay. We came back from the beach on our last day to Fresh rat droppings all around the kitchen, mainly droppings along all the worktops, table and sink. On further inspection there were more droppings inside the cupboards and drawers where cutlery and pots and pans were stored. The property owner, Nick, was very attentive and apologetic and helped to rectify the problem by placing bait around the hole in the wall where there were a lot of rat droppings. Unfortunately this tainted our holiday a little and everything we had in the kitchen had to be binned as we were travelling with children and we were worried.

Good location, not far from town centre. Car park close by on Dean Road £6 for 24 hrs. Tesco, takeaways and pub at the end of the road. House had everything we needed for a one night stay.

Back garden smelt a bit, drain smell. The house gets really hot, there is a fan in the main bedroom but not the other bedroom or downstairs. The info on the info sheet is out of date as they've obviously had an upgraded router put in and the password is not the same as on the info sheet.
