It was a beautiful accommodation with a nice mixture of visual traditional features and hidden or subtle modern features too. We really liked the layout and the floor heating which helped considerably with the cold weather. It was also in a nice quiet area so that was great for resting after long days of touring and walking about.

A very good experience overall. It comfortably fit the 6 of us. Luggage forwarding was available and check-in procedures were easy to follow. Individually packed toiletries were also a nice touch!

Stairs are a little narrow, and other than bus 50 which is a less than a 3-minute walk away, it can be a bit of a walk to the other bus stops/train stations.

House was nice and really clean. The bed were comfortable

The house is set in a nice neighborhood and not in the busy, crowded tourist areas. We could make light breakfasts, sit around the kitchen table to talk. Loved having access to a washing machine. The small garden was beautiful especially when it was snowing.

Stairs are very narrow and steep. We wish there was an area other than the kitchen table to sit and talk.

Gorgeous location and cute paved street and local little shops nearby. Beautifully and thoughtfully renovated throughout. Superbly comfortable space for a family of 4. Perhaps not the easiest access on foot to the station with suitcases etc., but a fabulous base to return to after a long day of siteseeing. Do take advantage of the free bag drop to the property if you can!

Really happy to have 2 bathrooms and 2 toilets in a machiya house for the 4 of us. Sufficient space for all of us. Location was good with access to local supermarket and buses around Kyoto. We really enjoyed our stay at Fujinoma.

Not easy to carry luggages upstairs so we ended up using the spare bedroom downstairs for all our luggages. Lighting in the bathroom downstairs could be brighter. And lights in the bedrooms upstairs are very dim so we couldn’t see what’s inside the cupboards.
