Quirky Kendal Cottage

Very tired and old. No bedside table. Old coffee in pot. Painting coming off the walls. Tape holding bits in place in bathroom. Bath coming apart where you stand. Peeling .

The location was very convenient for the station. Everything we needed for our stay was to hand. There was a nice hot shower, and a pretty garden to look at.

Lovely little cottage in Kendal – clean, quiet, cosy, and dog-friendly. It had everything you need on arrival – bin bags, towels, washing-up liquid, etc – which meant we didn’t have to lug the usual bits. Spacious with a charming wood burner that made the evenings really cosy. Great location too: a short walk to Kendal High Street, a stone’s throw from the train station, and Lidl just round the corner. The hosts were wonderful, with a thoughtful guide to local pubs, coffee shops, and activities. Would happily return. If you are travelling by train, this cottage is perfect as you hop off the train station and the property is just there. If you are travelling by car, then note that parking is available but near the train station, through the arches.

Parking isn't outside the property as the cottage is off a busy street through an alley way. So best if you travel light to the cottage but the cottage has every amenity that you need.

Ben was very kind on the phone to us as he called us to check if we was having a good time and if we wanted recommendations, he let us stay one more night ehich we are greatful for. We loved the garden and the bats and we would love to stay again in the future. I recommend this cottage to everyone.

To many mirrors. Hard to find the house as it says number 2 and not 15. One of the dovets smells of urine abit bit looked clean. Lamp shades dont work properly. Lighting is very yellow. Smelled dusty and dog hairs everywhere (not that bad) but ecpected as alows dogs. Key safe is to difficult to unlock after put code in to open it. Didnt want to bother the owner so didnt mention anything as its not a big deal. However i think we could have done with a bigger frying pan. Also some storage for clothes and some leaflets to recommend nearby attractions. Maybe have an air purifier to help with the allergies. I would stay here again as we had fun and felt like home. Best place i have stayed in so far.

Lovely cottage, very good location. Ben has been lovely and allowed us to check in before 3pm.

It could have been slightly cleaner. Nothing too crazy or something to complain too much about, but that’s the only suggestion we can give.

We really enjoyed our stay at the Quirky Kendal Cottage! The space was homey, inviting, and full of charm. With its three small stories, it has a unique layout—do be prepared for stairs—but that added to the cottage's cozy character. The location is also fantastic: conveniently close to the train station and within easy walking distance to many shops, restaurants, and amenities in the charming town of Kendal. Check-in was smooth, and communication with the owners was excellent. They were very helpful and responsive, especially when we had a question about the door lock. Overall, a lovely place to stay in Kendal. Highly recommend!

The well equipped and comfortable rooms apart from the lounge. The overall cleanliness and easy access details given in advance.

The smell from burnt wood permeated all through the lounge and the lounge suite looked like it needed a clean possibly from wood smoke. It was not that comfortable. Also the toilet being on the top floor was a nuisance and could be a problem for older less mobile tenants.
