Dove House Cottages - No 1

Location was lovely. Bed was comfortable. Cottage had a cosy vibe.

Couldn't park in designated spot due to thick overhanging tree branches. We were welcomed by a dirty tea towel and sponge which had been left on the bench by the cleaners. Cutlery was dirty and dishes chipped. Pans should have been thrown away as old and dirty. No blind on door so not private. Sofas are very uncomfortable. Couldn't use patio outside...why ? We had to ask for the key for the patio doors which I feel should be provided for health and safety at least. No welcome pack - no info re: local shop or chemist but lots of menus for local restaurant Chequers, which we would definitely NOT recommend as service was appaling. I'd read reviews stating milk tea and coffee was provided but these were left over from other people. We had to venture back out looking for a shop so very disappointed. We've stayed at many cottages and have always recieved a welcome pack of bread and milk, most even leave Prosecco. The shower was very badly designed as its a wet room which fills the whole bathroom even up past the toilet. This doesn't drain leaving it very dangerous and unusable for at least 2 hours. No blind in bathroom...bizarre. no privacy to shower or use toilet. Upstairs windows are filthy and the temperature at night is unbearable as the heating is maintained by owners. Church bells all night also kept us awake. More attention to detail needed and we just felt the owners were not interested. The price doesn't reflect the product. Premium price for low cost accommodation. We wouldn't recommend. The cottage is in private grounds which we weren't able to use....too many rules. We both banged our heads numerous times on the very dangerous low beam coming downstairs.

Ideally situated for our visit to Oxford. Facilities, in the cottage, were good. 2 pubs within walking distance. Good access to all major routes.

Very picturesque

We accidentally walked on a lot of private land which, isn’t a criticism of the property but we felt like we may have imposed. Nobody said anything.
