Location. Layout of house. Dog friendly. We would love to stay here again!!! The small problems listed below do not affect what a lovely place it is to stay.

Didn't feel quite ready for us. No dish soap or tea towel in kitchen. Crumbs in fridge and grease on the underside of the washing up bowl. Only 2 wine glasses for 3 adults. There was a wet bath mat out on balcony which was definitely not an outside mat. Remote for TV was missing and the remote for the upstairs TV had no batteries in it.

View was good

Scaffolding down side of the property with rubble and tools along pathway, constant drilling and banging from property next door from 9am throughout the day. Dog hair on the sheets in one bedroom and chocolate all over bed throws in upstairs bedrooms. Electric sockets in 2bedrooms sometimes didn't work and are not properly fitted to the walls, they look very unsafe. I asked the property questions before going about facilities such as an iron but they didn't respond and there was not one. The property smelt very mouldy on entry and we traced the smell to a mouldy mop in the undstairs cupboard. There were crumbs on the bed throws too. Disappointed is not the word after how much we paid to have a holiday with constant unbearably loud drilling and hammering and unsafe property access!

no dining table . mainly clean enough but some part wasn’t, it needs improve.

No cooker as such , just a job and a convection/microwave/cooker , 6 staying so we cook breakfast etc cooker would be better than the microwave/oven and No instructions how to use it , on our last night kept awake with people skinny dipping making noise at 3am and lighting fires in the beach

The location & views are absolutely great with shops, pubs & cafes & the 199 steps to the Abbey are on your doorstep with Fortune's 2 mins up the road if you fancy their famous fresh smoked kippers - theres plenty of room 6 guests at the property without being too crowded. The property was very clean with washing up liquid/cleaning products etc provided for your stay. The harbour for more great views, boat/fishing trips, more restaurants/pubs are a short walk down church st and across the swing bridge - everything you need is close by or a short walk away. Its a lovely place with lots to do and see and perfect for short or longer breaks and if you can get in at The Magpie you won't be dissapointed - the freshest tastiest oysters I've ever had and a fantastic menu.

The beds (matresses & pillows) could do with a a little refresh/upgrade - some of the pillows were heavy & hard and the mattresses a little hard to so could benefit from toppers? The tv in the living room is quite small but ok and the tv in the twin room didn't work and there is no freezer compartment in the fridge for ice etc. The instrution manuals didn't quite match up to some things eg tv manual, & fire manual but you can google ones that reflect the brand/model. Could also do with some large bath sheets for larger guests (one of our party was 6ft 7 so needed bigger towels but managed ok with standard towels). This one is just a little bug bear of mine - too many 'seaside' knick-knacks/artificial flowers/pictures etc but i did like the old photgraphs and boat shelves :) Parking is a bit of an issue (but theres not much the owner can do about that) - you can drop your bags off and walk down from the duke of york pub, then drive up to the turning circle and go back down church st to find a space on the harbour/river - we were lucky and found a free parking spot down by the Middle earth tavern as the nearest car parks/street parking were full for most of the days. Could do with a bit of info on recycling as we didn't know where glass/plastic went.

Couldn’t get water quite hot enough for a bath - but realised boiler had been set to limit of 35deg

Views and location were amazing in the heart of Whitby without lots of people walking past your door. Rooms comfortable and cosy.

The property was a bit run down, doors not closing, rusty radiators, taps un steady and sink waste, toilet seat didn’t stay up, light bulb missing in twin room so couldn’t use lamp, no plug for bedside lamp in main bedroom, bedroom cabinets dusty and cleaned them before I could use and someone else’s rubbish in the unit (looked like shoe inserts), had to wash mugs/bowls before use as they hadn’t been washed properly.

Location was just wonderful, being only a very short walk to two good pubs with excellent food, in the traditional side of Whitby very close to the 199 steps, the beach on the doorstep (or nearly) and very quiet surroundings. A good size with comfortable furniture and the views from all windows spectacular.

Just a couple of niggles - a broken sink plug which bamboozled us a bit, no sponge or cloth to wash the pots with, only a dribble of washing up liquid. No toilet roll at all on arrival which caused a panic, however after a phone call to the owners this was resolved after a short time.
