"Excellent location"

10.0

Location was excellent, lovely tidy cottage with plenty of space for the 6 of us. Easy to find from the hosts instructions. Rooms were lovely. Generous size of the living room/dining area meant we could have guests over and the 12 of us fitted comfortably

There were no downsides to the property. With it being a cottage my 6ft 3 husband struggled a little with the height of some of the ceilings but the rest of us average height guests were absolutely fine.

"Was a lovely break will be back but unfortunately not in this cottage"

6.0

The property is in a fantastic location, the bed was very comfortable ,

This property is in desperate need of updating a new kicker would not go a miss , this kitchen was damp , this cottage only has one shower and to say it can sleep up to 9 people I don’t think one shower is enough the bath in the attic has been repaint and was like sand paper when in it , I kept finding long dark hairs all over the place no of use had dark hair so not from anyone in are party , the cottage was not clean , the out side yard really needs some attention and a gate is needed ,

"Good value for money accommodation in historic Whitby town"

6.0

Old Kipper Cottage is in a lovely location on a cobbled street between the famous Fortunes fish smokery and 199 steps leading up to Whitby Abbey. It is advertised as a fisherman's cottage and is a quirky, old and a little run down terraced house - but good basic accommodation on 3 floors so lots of room for families and very comfy beds. If it is true that 'you get what you pay for' then Old Kipper Cottage is good value for money.

The accommodation has a few maintenance issues with doors hanging off cupboards, some window sashes broken and some of the electric sockets not working. It is written in the accommodation manual that the electrics are inspected quarterly so perhaps an electrician was due following our visit? There is a nice Neff oven in the kitchen but it was absolutely filthy inside. We also got into terrible trouble with the parking. Following advice from the accommodation owners we used our holiday accommodation parking scratch card in the Church Street car park and got 2 x £50 parking tickets which put a damper on our holiday as you can imagine - for future travellers - Do not park in the Church Street car park unless you have bought a valid pay & display ticket. Apparently more detailed parking instructions had been emailed to me, but not received. I have asked for copies of these missing emails which have yet to be received. Detailed 'zone W' parking can be found here https://staynorthyorkshire.hostandstay.co.uk/free-parking-in-whitby-parking-scratch-cards-whitby-w-zones-and-more/

"Ideal location, house is great for families with kids into Harry Potter as the fireplace looked perf"

6.0

The house had a feel of a Harry Potter style, my sister only came for one night and stayed in the attic with on-site which she love but the stairs were too scary for my mum and I to use. Also my mum and sister said the house could have been haunted as pictures on the walls moved a few times.

The wall on the road side had a feeling of coming away from the building, this let in a huge spider! ( can’t blame the hosts for the spider!). The road is very narrow we had no issues when arriving but when we left there were cars lined up and we had to wait for them to pass, I ended up throwing most things into the car and pulled up in a car park to pack the car.
