"Great location, great communication, no negatives at all."

8.0

Booking.Com once again gave the wrong code for this property. Had to call the host. The second time in a weekend that B.com have the wrong codes.

Beautiful cottage, the stonework wall on the stairs to the top floor is absolutely fantastic.

"A quaint and quirky period property tucked away in the best location."

8.0

-Central to everything! Shops, resteraunts, the seafront and attractions such as the Abbey. So much to see and do - ideal for nipping back regularly for a break from the crowds. -Clean and full of character. It’s an old sailors cottage so expect uneven floors and walls, and the property has two spiral staircases over 3 floors (Something to bear in mind for anyone with mobility issues or young children) but aesthetics wise it really adds to its charm. -Cosy. Would also be perfect for an autumn or winter stay. There is a log burner fire which we didn’t use as it had an electric fire placed in front of it, so not sure if there is a reason log fires can’t be lit? A shame really as such a gorgeous feature of the property. -Dog friendly -TV with freeview in living room -Hairdryer (in top drawer of 1st floor bedroom) -Bath and shower on 1st floor, and toilet with sink on 2nd floor. No issues. -Comfortable beds with really good pillows -Tea coffee sugar and milk supplied -Crockery, pans and utensils provided -Towels and hand towels provided -Kitchenette has a microwave, cooker, fridge, washing machine, kettle and toaster (though we didn’t need to use the cooker or washer)

-Nearest Parking is a two minute walk down the road at Church Street Car park and was around £12 per day. We stayed during the regatta weekend and somehow were lucky enough to get a spot, but during peak times or events you may need to park further afield. -No wifi. Signal and mobile data was intermittent, especially on the ground floor but was noticeably better in the bedrooms. -2nd floor bedroom door got wedged shut on our first night so we had to leave this propped open for the duration of our stay. These are only minor negatives and would not prevent me from returning or recommending to others.

"Whitby is gorgeous, the property is quaint but has issues."

4.0

The location is good. Near lots of shops and attractions such as the Abbey and sea front.

The alleyway the property is in looks run down & the table outside was filthy & had not been cleaned. The property is not suitable for people with mobility issues which the advert should specify. There is a high step down into the property & a wooden box behind the front door which prevents the door from opening fully, both of these issues meant getting mobility scooters in & out was difficult. The stairs to the bedrooms are steep which meant the guest in the 2nd floor was unable to get to the bedroom & had to sleep on the sofa on the ground floor. The bath on the 1st floor which looks like it would be really nice with the water jets doesn't work at all and ejects brown sludge. The heating is insufficient making the property cold from evening onwards. The property could do with some TLC, fixing the bath, moving the junction box so the door opens, improving the heating & stating that it is not suitable for people with mobility issues. Better updated photos of the property are needed.

"10/10 for location!"

7.0

Amazing location, cannot get more central to Whitby. As soon as you step out, you are in the hustle and bustle of Whitby central. Great for nipping out and heading back when you need a rest / nap. We had a fantastic stay and loved our weekend in Whitby. Kitchen was rather dusty, lots of cobwebs on the ceiling. Needed a good clean. VERY steep stairs to go upstairs, no good if you have mobility issues. The house is over 3 floors, just bear that in mind. Pillows were very thin - might want to bring your own. Hairs in the bed which was a little frustrating. However, super cosy, amazing location, great value for money.

"doesn't match the description and photos"

4.0

the location was good

the cottage was nowhere near the condition of the photos listed on booking.com. it pictured an open fireplace but had a broken electric fire with no legs in its place. The cottage was grubby and really could do with a deep clean. outside the cottage was lots of black bags which smelt quite a bit. Would i stay here again, in its current condition NO.. but if it was as stated on booking.com YES
