South View - 3 bed modern Chester house - Close to city centre

The location was excellent. The property was clean and had some nice finishing touches- wall art, unusual lights and tasteful modern living room.

There was a strong smell of damp on entering and most rooms had peeling paint. The bed mattress in the upstairs rear room had prominent springs so we took a duvet from the ground floor bed to cover it. It was lucky there were only two of because the damp in that first room made it unusable even to store coats. The wardrobes and hangers were poor at best. As was the fridge. Little things like a kitchen bin that wouldn't close and poorly draining shower.It was such a shame as there is huge potential. I expected more because the description is NEW.

Upstairs bedrooms were acceptable. The area was safe and pleasant. Car parking directly outside the property was possible Saturday evening.

Downstairs bedroom, living area and kitchen were very uncomfortable. Damp smell in downstairs bedroom. Very tired fixtures and fittings. Dishwasher required manual tablet release. Induction hob could only be used with one pan which had a broken handle. Bathroom was regrettably unclean on closet inspection, hair found from previous occupant. Shower basin flow sluggish.

location fine if you are able to walk uphill into town. Bus stop by front door but do not know which buses go from there. Easy to find a taxi in Chester. Parking is hit and miss. Not very good for large vehicles as the roads nearby are very tight. Any problems from the stay before had been rectified.

There is only one toilet which can be a problem with a full household. Fridge ok if there are only a few of you. A larger fridge would be useful for larger groups. Could do with somewhere to sit outside.

Location, modern decor, cleanliness, outdoor space. Walk to train station for day out in Liverpool.

Could do with a touch up of some of the paint on walls to get back the property's wow factor that the owners have had a good eye to pull together.

Location was great. Space was good but there was only three of us.

The house looked tired. Lots of bubbling/missing paint in walls. Grouting dirty and/or missing in the bathroom on the floor. No fan in bathroom meant awful condensation and misting. Huge steps down into the bathroom and the kitchen, which were not mentioned in the listing (one of our party has mobility issues, so this was very difficult for them. Not enough sockets in the master bedroom or lounge/dining room. There was an awful foul smell in the house and outside - smelt strongly of manure. Was really overpowering outside but not as pungent inside as out. Really off putting.

No coffee pods for the machine.

The property was in a good location. We were able to have a nice 10 minute walk into town. Everything was clean and tidy…lovely bathroom. The upstairs bedrooms are lovely.

First of all the original photos on the advertisement for the property are beautiful, it’s just unfortunate that over time people that have stayed there have totally disrespected something that’s not theirs. We totally understand that you can’t always get to a property to maintain it but a bit of paint on the walls doesn’t take long to do. The bedroom downstairs feels like it doesn’t belong to that house. The blinds are totally ruined, which for a ground floor room is just awful because anyone walking by can see in. We had to put kitchen towel onto the blind to at least have privacy. The bed in there was creaky and quite cheap compared to the lovely beds upstairs. It’s a shame because if certain things were tended to would make this property a perfect stay in Chester. There was a chunk of carpet hanging down on one of the stairs…someone probably wearing heels..so disrespectful but for the host just needed to get some glue to put it back..it just again looked awful.

Needs a little TLC but would still recommend.
