Mokulē'ia Beach Houses at Owen's Retreat

The best part of this property were the location and how peaceful it was. It was far from the hustle and bustle of the city and the traffic.

The orange house we stayed in could use some upgrading. It's an older house so there is no AC, no dishwasher, none of the modern amenities one would expect for the price. It needs drywall patching and painting. The spectrum cable box didn't work at all, we had to call Spectrum (with the property mgr). They came out the next day and replaced the cable box.

Right on the beach! Secluded...very few people, only a few fishermen. We like to be where people are not, so this was ideal.

Power went out for about 8 hours, which is not the fault of managent, but there was no backup generator. We had no electricity to run the fridge or charge our phones. Once Hawaii power was up and going again, it was fine.

Location on the beach was terrific. People very nice and responsive . However, perhaps we should have been informed that the property is adjacent to a landing field used by the military and others. As such, the first few nights were spent listening to helicopters fly in and out literally every so many minutes.

The location is one of a kind and cannot be beat. Direct access to fairly secluded beach.

Nothing

Location, location and location. And before I forget, the location of the property is perfect. Literraly on the beautiful beach and very quiet. Ten min drive to a nice small town with many places to eat.

Could be cleaner, and some additional furniture should be added.

Nightmare of a stay. We checked in late (10pm) and I let the owner and the property manager know. Nothing was prepared. We had to call several times to get the keys. When we got in the place was gross… but we just went to bed. When we woke up we felt really sick, we honestly thought we had covid. So we went to the urgent care to get tested. They said it’s a possible that there was black mold in the house - our tests came back negative. I let the owner know and she called me a liar and was extremely rude. Every time we were in the house we felt so sick, so we ended up getting a hotel. I extremely regret my trip even though i spent $7k. I would never recommend this place and in fact, the should be shut down.

Unbeatable location

This property is a perfect location if you like quiet beach time. The houses are right on the beach. We would walk across the lawn and onto the beach to have our coffee while watching the sea turtles. It’s far enough out to be very quiet, close enough to drive to so many great places. The house was clean and very comfortable. We will Return to this location with more family. There is a flight business right across the road that offers skydiving and paragliding.

The appliances are very dated. They all work just fine
