Windsor Retreat in shadow of the Castle.

Location was fantastic

There is no way a full size suitcase can fit up the spiral staircase. The top room is so small you can not walk around the edge of the bed with out tripping down the stairs (especially in the middle of the night!) it's less than a foot of flooring, and you're so busy thinking about not bumping your head on the pitched ceiling! There is no space to store a bag or anything and this lack of space applies to the other room with an ensuite and double bed. The gap in the ensuite on the top floor to get through the door and past the basin to the toilet is probably 10 inches and gents can not stand straight on to the toilet! Also I messaged the host late afternoon as it was getting cool and the heating wasn't turning on and I wanted to know if we needed to do anything, he never replied. The host kindly allowed us to check out at 10 but we could leave our bags by the door until our airport pick up at 12.30pm. HOWEVER the cleaner came and took the key from the lock box so when we arrived at 12.20 to get our bags we could not gain entry. I rang him and there was no answer. I messaged him hoping he'd see it straight away. After a frantic 5 minutes we thought to check the back door if it was locked and found a second lock box with a key so we were able to gain entry and retrieve our luggage. It's now been over a week and he has not even responded to my desperate message!!! We never told him how we got our bags!

Great location and easy to find. Would definitely recommend.

We were fine as physically able, but some might find spiral staircase challenging.

Well equipped kitchen and good location. Comfortable lounge and good communication with the owner.

Small ensuite bedroom. Double bed pushed right up to the wall on one side.

The location of the house was fantastic right In the centre of Windsor.

My only feedback would be the stairs and only having one fully functioning bathroom with a shower which was downstairs in the kitchen. We couldn’t take the cases upstairs which meant they were taking up space downstairs. There were 5 of us and we had to plan when to use the one bathroom to shower.

Great location - close to all the places you want to visit in Windsor.

The kettle was disgusting with limescale flakes floating in your cuppa. By paying nearly 350 pounds a night, it would be nice to have at least a bottle of water and milk pods in the fridge. But there aren't any except for some leftover sauce from other previous people's takeaway. Also the front door latch isn't working, which means anyone can open it by inserting a card in. Cracked glass in one of the kids bedroom. The small bedroom with ensuite bathroom and all towels smell musty.
