"Shit hole!!! Don't go near it"

1.0

Nothing it was disgusting and dirty and not safe

This is the worse accommodation I have ever stayed at the place was dirty it smelt musty. It hadn't been cleaned after previous guest. Bathroom was disgusting with wee around seat and poo in the toilet. Toothpaste in the sink. No key for kids bedroom with wide window that was very unsafe owners said last guests had lost it. Sent owners pictures they apologised about the dirt said they were sending cleaners in then 3 hours later they weren't and we had to wait until the next day as there were riots going on in Lancaster. ( no relevance to the lakes) offered me £50 for the evening to go get a, hotel until they made the property clean and suitable which is shocking as u can't get a, hotel for that price we left early poor owners do not recommend

"We had a great stay even with the issues raised."

6.0

Excellent location for us, 3 toilets and two bathrooms which was great when with friends. If maintenance issues sorted it would be spot on. Cosy living room, kitchen had everything we needed although we did not use the oven as ate out. Excellent shower in bathroom on third floor. Parking was good, had own courtyard at rear.

Some maintenance issues, first floor toilet has been leaking for a long time badly staining living room ceiling and dripping on floor. Although mattress and pillowcase covers were on most beds they were grubby and the single bed I used on 3rd floor did not have either on when I stripped it for the hosts, some of the beds and pillows in here need replacing and there was no blind or curtain at window or on sky-light. Pedal bins in kitchen and bathroom did not flip so had to use hands to lift lids. Kickboards falling off in kitchen. Could not get tv to work in living room. Issues that all could be sorted out. The key safe did not have cottage number on it so at first thought it wasn't in the agreed place.

"Location is fantastic and it was good to be back in Ulverston. The attention to guests needs was di."

4.0

Great location and well priced.

First time in ALL my travels that I had to go and purchase toilet paper as none was provided. You normally discover this lack when you need it the most and it became very noticeable as there are no holders in any of the bathrooms. Also bought paper towel and micro cloths as nothing was provided. Place is in need of some tlc. Broken toilet seat on first level and what remained was loose. Shower head in same location distributes water well past the glass door. No instructions on how to use the hob, all your guests may not be from the UK, such as us. Information booklet is out dated and needs attention.

"Beds severely let you down"

6.0

Location was fabulous. Parking was available in the courtyard, although it was a bit inconvenient that there was no back door, so have to go out the front door and round the back to the car. Really close to the town centre and Ulverston is a lovely town with so much to offer. The house was quite cramped for the 4 of us, so can only imagine how cramped it would feel for 6, (the maximum it sleeps). It was very clean with plenty of cutlery, crockery etc, and very handy having 3 toilets, 2 showers, and a bath in the property. However, the beds were EXTREMELY uncomfortable, so much so that it badly affected our sleep all 3 nights that we were there. Also, when I stripped the beds, some of the bedding was not in a good state, very tatty, and a number of stains, including a pillow with dried blood on it! The top bedroom, although very spacious and bright was EXTREMELY hot, which also made it difficult to sleep, and there were no blinds on either of the windows. I found a broken blind behind the tallboy which I managed to push up on the lower window as this overlooked the courtyard where other guests would be able to see directly in. The other was a Velux window, so we unfortunately had the sun streaming in from early on which was also a bit of a nuisance. The showers were clean and of good quality, but there was no way, (that I could see) of adjusting the temperature, so it was stuck on the one temperature which wasn't as warm as I would personally like. One more little niggle is that the one clock in the property, (on the kitchen wall) was on 8 o' clock permanently, so clearly needed a new battery, something that could have easily been rectified for our stay. Unfortunately, mainly due to the beds situation we feel we can't rate this any higher than a 6. Investing in some better quality mattresses and bedding and putting up some blinds would make this a far more comfortable dwelling for future guests.
