The site is in a lovely area and has the potential to be a great holiday home. The owners genuinely seem interested in providing a good experience for their guests. When issues were raised the owners attempted to resolve them. The hosts went out of their way to honour a request we had for some Christmas decorations and a Christmas tree as we were staying over Christmas and New Years.

When choosing a holiday home I look for sites that provide me with a home away from home. Unfortunately, this holiday home fell short in several critical and minor areas. I was left with the distinct impression that the hosts did not have a firm grasp on the component elements of a great holiday home. For our family, we look for a warm and comfortable communal area that has space for everyone to be together on holiday. The infrastructure needs to work in a way that it is invisible to the occupant and we want to be assured of a holiday home that focuses on providing an environment where we can rest and recharge. Holidays are not a common thing for us and we need to make the most of the opportunity to rest and recharge. We are not a party family at all, we much prefer time together sharing movies, books, chats, meals and just recharging. With this in mind, there were several jarring points in the home. The heating process is painfully manual, frustratingas it continuously needs to be activated and simply not fit for purpose. The need to continuously feed the meter (even during the "free" periods), waking up to a cold house and having to manually manage something that should be, and generally is, automated, is very frustrating. The advertised wifi is not broadband, it is in fact a "3" 4G router. This solution is flaky at best, is not fit for purpose and is subject to a fair usage policy (,200,Gigs) . The wifi is woefully inadequate for a 6-member family of mostly teens and young adults whose entertainment is based on effective Internet access, never mind the 8 people it proports to serve. The fridge is woefully undersized for the size of the holiday home presented. We had planned to be in occupation over both Christmas and New Years, and finding space for all the refrigerator needs of a Christmas dinner while still having enough room for further days was impossible. It resulted in a multitude of unnecessary trips to town for refrigerated supplies.

Cute cottage. Sitting room with an open fire was delightful.

Although easy to do, you did have to manually operate the heating and hot water even during the free period. That said, it was easy and the house heated up very quickly.

Very comfortable and cosy.

Not as presteen as the last time we stayed a year ago. Paint peeling on the ceiling and mould showing in the upstairs bathroom. Mould in the kitchen. Dirty marks on the one wall of the upstairs bathroom.. One bath towel had black marks on it.
