Thingvellir Lake Cottage

We could go fishing within walking distance and really great location

We needed to call the owner to open the gate and we could not use our phone in Iceland so we needed to walk from the gate to get the key and so as when we leave.

We loved the hot tub, the quiet area, and the lake.

Lovely little cabin, 50m from the lake. It was very cosy and warm, with good facilities. The hot-tub was a plus, although unfortunately the weather was so wet we didn't use as much as we would have liked. Great location, close to many interesting spots, at the same quite remote.

Lovely cosy and warm property - ample space for a family of four. Great location and had the added bonus of a hot tub- which the kids enjoyed especially. Well positioned for travelling around the golden circle / secret lagoon.

Very nice and we would recommend it to others. Well lit and clean. Jacuzzi ready to use. The living room, with its big table, is just perfect.

A detail perhaps to think about would be a somewhat easier access to the cottage when arriving first late at night. Some way to open the gate without waking the owners up in the middle of the night. But I guess that would have to apply to the whole neighborhood and not all the residents may like it. Luckily, Iceland is a very safe country and trekking through the residential closed area 500 m in the darkness is not a big deal. I would never dare to do it back in the US.

Hot tub was nice, comfortable bed and cosy setting.

The remote control for the gate didn't work but we could phone the owner to open it remotely.

The lodge is well located for The Golden Circle and is extremely well equipped. It’s lovely and warm inside and the hot tub was warm and clean. We had a lovely stay here.

One of the bedrooms is a bit draughty although we stayed during a storm so this probably won’t be a problem most of the time.
