"Nice, cozy, great location."

Very nice and cozy house with a fantastic location near Hanamikoji Street.

The house is old (its a Machiya i get it). Beds are a little hard. It may not always have all the modern amenities someone could be looking for but all of this is overshadowed by the location.

Its a charming old Japanese shop house with modern facilities. Location is residential with a short walk to Sanjo subway. Across the Kamo River is endless shopping and eating places. Its also a short walk to Yasaka Shrine the start point to the busy popular Gion area. Supermarket is nearby. Ms Yuko is a friendly and helpful host. It is a lovely spacious two storey house for a family of 3. We enjoyed our stay!

The bathroom has no lock. House slippers not provided for the cold floor.

A lovely house in walking distance to the main parts of the city. The host is lovely and met us upon arrival. Gave us a map and explained and gave us advise on what to see or how to get around. It was also very nice to have a house for ourselves instead of a busy hotel. The house was very comfortable. We would have loved to stay longer.

Loved the authenticity and experience of living in a 100 yr old Machiya! The location was amazing, bang in the middle of the best area in GION and yet away from the noise. Perfect for families with great space especially compared to Japan standards.

Yuko was a very welcoming host and gave us very good advices about Kyoto. It was great to enjoy this full house in a great neighborhood. Queen size bed were the best of the house !;) There is a public bath just in front , yuko left all the explanation, it was worth trying!

"Superb location, perfect for families"

We loved our stay at Sakara Gion. It's a spacious two-bedroom machiya house, perfect for a family. Located in the heart of Gion district, a short walk to Tatsumi bridge, Shinbashi-dori, Yasaka Shrine, Kenninji Temple and Gion corner, but on a quiet street. We saw geisha twice. The host was friendly and responsive, giving us tips on the best local restaurants. Two metro stations are close by. The house has a lived-in feel, which is great for families.
