Host gave excellent information. Clean, tidy and comfortable.

My only recommendation would be to pop a few herbal tea options there. I understand that is fully a personal preference of mine!

The beds were comfortable and well made up. Photos on the site must be very very old. View of the lake would be great if you could see through the dirty windows.

The photos of the property are miss leading. It is no longer well presented. Very grubby. The toilet needs replacing and general care of everything is not good. The rubbish from visitor to the next is left at the property stinks and causes fly problems. Just not maintained.

House is perfect and comfortable and great location

Lack of touches - no spare sheets, dried up coffee, no milk, no dishwasher tablets or tea towels to do dishes - finishing touches

Owners have remedied some of the matters raised in previous guest’s reviews. We had enough heating. The shower pressure wasn’t amazing but nor was it bad. They have 2 couches in the lounge. It was cosy, spacious enough for a family of four or 5 and a good location - close to the lakefront.

We weren’t aware that the house has been made into 2 separate accommodation spaces. Through a locked door in the hallway was another guest or guests who had a separate entrance just along the porch from the door into the main house. It wasn’t bad as they were quiet, although we were conscious of our kids not making too much noise for them and heard them leave very early in the mornings. It would just be nice to have that information in advance of booking rather than be surprised by the close presence of another guest/s. I can’t see it anywhere on the property’s listing. Just a note to guests with children - the bunk bed is positioned away from the wall (windows) so if someone is going to sleep up top you need to push the bunk to the window or there’s a risk of falling out. The mattresses are pretty uncomfortable so we put them on the floor and that improved them somewhat.

Location was great being close enough to Taupo town center, with wonderful views of the lake and in a quiet neighborhood.

House was an older house and relatively clean, however upstairs did find a couple of cockroaches and ants wandering on the carpet and had to spray the rooms.

2 small things to note: we couldn't get the dishwasher to work (probably us - we couldn't find its power switch) and the drain in the shower doesn't drain away the water - so the floor-pan fills up to the top with water.

the house is a bit cold even with the heater on.
