Birdsong Cottage

Well if your a birdwatcher or just enjoy the birds this is the place for you. We have never seen Tui so close so enjoy a least one night during your visit to NZ. The cottage was amazing with all those little extras thought off. Clean tidy and well decorated.

We only had a couple of nights.

It was wonderful to drink coffee on the verandah and listen to the birds and watch them feeding.

Where to begin? The setting, beautiful with birds all around. The hosts, who thoughtfully supplied not only the basics, but many extras, such as binoculars to view the birds. Very clean, comfortable bed, hot shower. This was an overnight stay for us but we would have happily stayed longer. Highly recommend!

Susan and Gavin are fantastic hosts, having thought of every possible need for guests and more( fresh flowers, milk, cheese eggs and apples ). The location allows for excellent bird watching from the veranda. The decor is superb in the spacious accommodation. This is the best place we have ever stayed in in years of travelling. Thank you

We had to leave!

Beautiful. Peaceful. Excellent hosts. Excellent facilities. Excellent atmosphere. We loved our time at Birdsong Cottage, and it is already on our list for places to stay on our next visit to NZ.

The photos don't do this place justice. It is decorated to a high standard inside and is roomy and comfortable. You can sit outside and watch the birds feed. Really nice hosts. Highly recommended.

Nothing. It was spot on.

Susan and Gavin were very friendly, welcoming hosts who live in the main house on the property. Although on a main road, the cottage sits well back, and is very peaceful. Comfortable bed, excellent shower, and cosy porch overlooking the forest. Bird feeders attracted a variety of birds close to the porch.

With a large bedroom that doubles as the sitting room, we think it would be better to turn the dining room into a cosy snug and put the TV there instead of the bedroom. The bedroom has two easy chairs but no sofa, and the kitchen is very small with a two ring gas hob, a microwave, no oven or dishwasher so cooking a meal is rather difficult. Eating out is the best option.
