Quinta da Paz

We stayed in apartment 3 which had plenty of room for both of us with a great sea view and side pool view. Everything was there that we needed. Good bed and good shower. 2nd shower and toilet too, if needed. We cooked a few times in the kitchen and has most of the things you need. Air con in the bedroom and main living room was welcome. Property is well maintained including the grounds which are lovely and pool which is cleaned at least twice a week. It’s in a central location and an easy 10/15 minute drive from the airport and again 15 minutes from the property to Funchal. Lots of restaurants that can be walked to from the property (although remember it’s hilly) or a drive into Funchal. A good base to explore the whole island from. Owners live on site and are very friendly and Patrica who organises the bookings and cleaning etc is also very helpful and easy to contact.

As there are lots of plants in the gardens I did get a few mosquito bites (but then I am a magnet for them) so take sprays and room devices if you suffer. The only recommendation would be to change the TV to a smart TV so you can log into your own streaming services like Netflix etc. Also a nice extra touch would have been dressing gowns and a few more hangers. Plenty of towels including larger pool ones provided. Madeira is very hilly, so a car is a must and with hindsight we would have chosen an automatic, as the roads can be very twisty, steep up and downhill and lots of 180 degree switchback turns.

Good location with sea views. The town offers everything you need: shopping, restaurants, etc. Patricia is very friendly and helps wherever she can. I would definitely stay again.

The restrooms could be cleaner (shower head). The kitchen could be better equipped, as could the barbecue area. This is a high-level complaint.

Fantastic location! The property is beautiful, the view is excellent - what to want more? I loved the garden - every day we stepped outside we could smell the flowers in the air. 100% recommended :)

The view from the balcony was stunning being able to look to the ocean on a clear day. All time access to the pool was great. It was possible to walk down to the beach or up to the town really quickly and not to far tk funchal.

Wasn't a lot of cooking wear so before you buy food to cook with would check what they have already in so you know you could make it l. Not a problem if your going out to eat every day.

The apartment was located in a beautiful garden with views to the ocean. The property was spacious and clean with two bathrooms and a balcony where we could sit and have meals/drinks. There was a washing machine in a covered passageway between apartments as well as a sink and a tumble drier, which was very convenient. The apartment is located in a gated area, close to bus stops and within walking distance (although steeply uphill) of shops and supermarkets. Funchal is 10km away, reached by bus in about 1/2 hour.

We were surprised that a property of this rating did not have a dishwasher. There could have been more crockery and a small saucepan would have been useful.

Amazing location, lots of busses for easy transport with local shops and restaurants. Our room was clean and had everything we needed, pool was always open. Overall, very nice place
