I liked everything about our stay. Manabu is a superb host who treated us as guests instead of customers. His kindness represents what I love about rural Japan. For instance, when my wife hurt her leg on the Kumano Kodo, he insisted on driving us to a pharmacy in Hongu. Every morning during our three day visit, he dropped off hand-made onigiri. We slept very well on the new thick mattresses under the warm futons. The 'kotatsu' is a good experience for guests. If you're looking for an authentic Japanese experience, this is a great choice. By the way, his local izakaya has tasty food and drink at an affordable price.

Beautiful thoughtful home and garden - we loved it here. As with other reviews wish we had longer. Ate at the restaurant and it was outstanding.

We absolutely adored the place. It was very spacious and felt so authentic. It was really cozy. We were surprised with a snack to take with us for breakfast. We felt bad leaving, wished we could stay longer

Wir hatten einen wunderbaren Aufenthalt im Guesthouse Okagesan. Das Haus war herrlich Japanisch, inklusive Irori, einer offenen Feuerstelle, deren bloße Anwesenheit eine heimelige Atmosphäre schafft. Das ganze Haus war rundherum mit Schiebetüren ausgestattet die durch das Papier viel Licht und Geräusch ins Haus ließen. Die Zikaden zirpten ununterbrochen, tagsüber hörte man die Vögel singen, und konnte diese auch an der Futterstelle direkt aus dem Haus heraus beobachten. Die Geräusche der Natur waren allgegenwärtig, draussen flog eine Vielzahl von Schmetterlingen herum, und obwohl es heiß und schwül war kühlten die Klimaanlagen das Haus hervorragend herunter. Der Futon war dick und bequem und die Bettwäsche ermöglichte einen wunderbaren Schlaf. Das Haus liegt zudem mit dem Auto in wenigen Minuten erreichbar am Kumano Hongū Taisha und ein Outdoor Onsen befindet sich in Laufnähe. Zudem waren die Gastgeber wunderbar gastfreundlich. Hier spürt man die Wärme und Geborgenheit des ländlichen Japans.
