Kānuka Cottage - Tranquil and relaxing

We loved our stay at Kānuka Cottage — peaceful, beautifully designed, and spotlessly clean. The cottage has everything you need, from a cozy wood burner to a well-equipped kitchen and a lovely deck surrounded by native bush. It’s close to Akaroa but wonderfully private.

everything was perfect .

Spacious rooms, cosy lounge with wood burner. Nice makeup table with good lighting. Good to have a TV in the bedroom. Good supply of wood and kindling. Heat pump was on when we arrived which was nice and welcoming. Kitchen well fitted out. A good supply of towels, face cloths, toilet paper, shampoo etc. Nice to have a place to lay suitcases and hang clothes. Nice and clean on the inside. Lovely and private with beautiful birdsong all around.

A few maintenance issues. Batteries in bedroom remotes were corroded. Microwave door wouldn’t open, even when unlocked. It would be nice to have a Smart TV for apps such as Netflix, Neon etc. Lots of cobwebs in outside seating area. The fake plants in window box are faded and full of cobwebs - not a good look on arrival. Some of the outdoor seating squabs had been left out by previous guests and were showing mould spots. We left them out for your attention.

Very clean and comfortable. Wood burning stove kept the whole cottage nice and toasty. Good cooking facilities and friendly staff.

We travelled over from ChCh to take a break with family for one night and we were very happy with the set up for this amount of time. It was a lovely place to relax for a few hours all together. The cottage is beautifully renovated and very clean.

Couches are placed a little difficult for more than 2 people to watch the TV but I guess this is a space issue. It would have been nice to light the fire as it was such a cold weekend but there wasnt any information on this and it didnt appear to work well. The heatpump however was very efficient for warmth.

Peaceful wooded haven. Excellent and well tended house and surrounds with pleasing decor and comfortable furnishings. Lovely to hear bell birds with a morning coffee on the deck.

Lovely sunny spot surrounded by trees. Very private considering there are multiple cottages etc on the property.

The furnishings are a bit dated (couches/artwork etc)... could do with an update for the price... a proper coffee machine/nespresso would be great!!
