Everything about this place was amazing. Communication, amenities, location. Everything. Toru was a great host, prepared the entire house for us and gave a tour with explanation on how to use absolutely everything.

The only thing we didn't like in the house was not being able to spend more time!

We had a wonderful stay at Toru’s house and couldn’t have asked for a better experience. Toru was kind, welcoming, and helpful from the very beginning. Communication was easy and quick, and he made sure we had everything we needed throughout our stay. The house is in a fantastic location, making it very convenient for getting around and exploring the area. It was spotless, comfortable, and well equipped — honestly, it had everything we could possibly need and more. You can really feel that a lot of care has gone into making guests feel at home. We truly enjoyed our time here and would absolutely stay again. Highly recommended! Dear Toru, if we ever come back to Kyoto, we hope to stay at your place again :). Take care and all the best!

We absolutely loved our stay here. From the moment we arrived, everything felt so warm, welcoming, and thoughtfully prepared. Taru is by far the best host we’ve ever experienced—he has truly thought of every single detail and goes above and beyond to make sure guests feel comfortable and cared for. The space itself is beautifully maintained and incredibly well set up, with so many small touches that made a big difference to our stay. You can really feel the care and intention behind everything. Our only regret is that we didn’t stay longer—we absolutely would have extended our stay if we could have changed our plans. The location is fantastic, set in a wonderful part of Kyoto, making it an ideal base to explore while still feeling peaceful and inviting to return to at the end of the day. Taro has more than earned his Superhost status—this is a true five-star experience. We felt genuinely welcomed and looked after throughout our entire stay, and we wouldn’t hesitate to recommend it to anyone.

This was definitely our favorite stay out of all eight accommodations we experienced during our trip. The house in Kyoto is a true Japanese experience in every sense of the word – it’s beautiful and gives a real taste of life in a traditional Japanese home. Toru is an extremely kind and attentive host! On the day of our arrival, he personally welcomed us, gave us a tour of the house, and explained in detail how everything works. It was such a warm and thoughtful welcome; we had never experienced such hospitality before. The house is spotlessly clean, and both the kitchen and bathrooms are very well equipped. All necessary toiletries are provided, and the futons are very comfortable. There is also a washing machine in the house, which was a great convenience during our longer stay. The living room is charming and thoughtfully divided: one area is a relaxation space with a table for the traditional tea ceremony and even a tea warmer, while the other area has a TV and a classic Japanese low table. From the living room, you can step out onto a small terrace where smoking is allowed. There is even a foot massager in the house! The stairs to the upper floor are quite steep, so caution is needed, but this is typical for traditional Japanese houses. The house also comes with a garage, which is perfect if you rent a car. The entry door uses a code, which is very convenient. The location is ideal if you are looking for a quiet neighborhood, very close to the Philosopher’s Path and green areas, yet also not far from Gion. For our group of seven friends, it was absolutely perfect. We warmly greet Toru and thank him for the wonderful stay. If we ever have the chance, we would love to return! Arigato gozaimasu!!!
