Rymmon Retreat

A really well-equipped lodge in an outstandingly beautiful setting, just a minute's walk from a loch with sightings of curlew, greylags, oyster-catchers and - most amazingly - an owl which did a close fly-by most evenings. Sarah, the host, was responsive and friendly, and has clearly put a lot of thought into what makes a great holiday experience. Loved it, and it was a real wrench having to leave.

Nothing really. If pushed, I would have to say I needed to change bedrooms because of the noise of the boiler, but that's more about me being a light sleeper than the boiler being unduly noisy.

It’s in a beautiful quiet location

The lodge was tidy and impressive. There was a selection of books and dvd's as well as board games provided should it be a rainy day which was a nice touch. It was very peaceful and scenic and the shower was lovely and hot.

The location was stunning, located in the north of the main island. Extremely quiet. The place was very clean and comfortable, unfortunately we didn't stay long enough indoors to enjoy the comforts as the weather was amazing! Well stocked DVD, games and book library. Super prompt and friendly replies from host when we were being idiots and couldn't find bits and bobs that were left out for us.

Slightly out of the way but not necessarily a bad thing.

Location is superb!

A bit too chilly in winter! The place is not well isolated from cold.

Lovely setting, very comfy little cottage, self contained a little distance away from the host’s house with a lovely outlook towards the water. Well laid out with two bathrooms which was fabulous. Comfy living room with tv, books and dvds. Had a bath-bonus! Comfy beds and good heating. About 30 minutes from both Stromness and Kirkwall but a great place from which to explore Orkney. Host Sarah was very welcoming and a good communicator and addressed a small issue we had very promptly.

Wi-Fi didn’t work very reliably due to the home’s position and it should perhaps be noted in the listing.
